Vegas is opening another pool room

Hi Guys!

My wife Felisa has an excellent suggestion for the name of Gary's new room.

Pure Stroke!

What do you guys think?

Chad in Vegas

I just heard yesterday that the new name is Good Timez (times with a Z) so I guess that's how it will be spelt.
I also heard that the tables are in the building but not set up yet. The 9 foot Diamonds were bought from Best Billiards so I guess Best is done now.

Oh the Cue Club ... I didn't know because I stopped going there some time ago. Unfortunately the neighborhood, and the plaza that contains the Cue Club have really gone down hill.

No fault of the business, but myself, and several other players I know, have stopped going there for any reason - after dark walking to your ride in the parking lot is a little sketchy. Unless you are prepared to draw and fire just stay away from this area.

This is why all the New Car dealers have fled from the area, it's a shame really, 12 years ago it was a completely different story.

If I see you at the new Club Charleston I'll but you a drink and we can play some.

Im pretty sure i saw that Cue Club Plaza on an episode of Cops where the guy pretends he didnt know the hooker he picked up was a guy.

Fresh Sushi and Japanese beer. I would go there just for that.

I know quite a few pool rooms that opened selling Lobster and Steaks. 6 months later old hamburgers and frozen chicken fingers was the fare. It may be different for an Asian crowd but no one goes to a pool room for upscale food that i have seen.

Randyg and I did one of our 3-day pool schools at Club Charleston a couple of years ago. The description was not innaccurate, but we found the owner to be easy to deal with. We had a great school with 8 students. Perhaps we'll go back and see if we can work with the new owners to host another pool school!

Great idea.
Vegas has always been great for Pool Schools.

It is in NC. One hall appealed and took it to the state supreme court and lost. Bank on it! Look me up if you're near Greensboro.

BTW, where is this "re-newed" Vegas hall located?

and NC was pretty much the tobacco capital of the world not too long ago. Hell they barely taxed it. Just goes to show how things can radically change and quickly.

Shame to hear that Best is closed. I'm on my way to Vegas Sept 22-25th and looking to play. Is this place open now? If anyone would like to spar you can shoot me a PM.

I lived in Vegas 15 years ago and played at the cue club, it was a very bad plaza then. I recall the windows being shot out at the cue club back then, drive by style.

I have been around the Cue Club a while now and I have never seen or even heard of stuff like that going on.

Good Timez is not open yet. I will post as soon as I find out.

Well it happened.
I lived there when Toby was running it.
Ian practically lived in there, seen him sleep there several night.
And Ben that had the slot machines played and gambled there, while he chased Toni around until he got with her, ended up having kids, she now lives back in Florida, she's good friends with my GF.

That was some time ago. I only met Toby when I first got to town in Aug. 1996 and he was not around long after that.

Hi Jim,

Got a call from Sceusa yesterday. He stopped across the street to pick up a repair. Saw the sign and stopped in. Rapone, Baby Ray and Eddy were there. Said it was amazing! Can't wait to get to town to visit. Surprised he didn't know anything about the room. Oh well, that's him!

Good to hear.

I have been in Vegas several times, and was surprised at the Cue Club and the lack of decent pool rooms there.

Hopefully this will be a great place for the folks.

It's been awesome there.
Clean & Quite
Beautiful tables
Great players there. Max Eberle there most days
The owners are great players also. Gary Onomura & Teddy Garrahan

I'm coming down on business and will be there every day (daytime) Feb 8 -12th). If anyone wants to spar I'm available to play. I'm nothing special but willing to play almost any type of game.

It's always nice to meet new AZB posters. Drop me a PM.

OK so here is the deal.
There was a Pool Room called "Club Charleston" that recently went out of business.
I only went there a few times because all the tables had yellow felt )
\

YELLOW CLOTH. Yeah, that place needed to close ;)

I was in St. Louis a few years back, and the tables were covered in PINK cloth, I kid you not. It was hideous and no way to keep them clean when everyone was still using blue chalk.

Seriously, think the place must have been called Pinky's. Had one in Vegas across Flamingo from the Rio. Mark Estes of CSI / USAPL was the manager. Guess what color the cloth was ;) !
