Vegas

If you are into or curious about firearms, or various military weaponry, then Las Vegas is one of the best places to be able to have first hand experiences with a wide variety of them. There are a whole bunch of places in or just outside of Vegas where between them you can shoot just about any firearm, past or present, including all manner of machine guns from around the world. One place also offers a helicopter ride where you get to shoot a machine gun out of the open door during the flight. Other things like flame throwers and grenade launchers are also available to shoot, light tanks are available to drive or crush cars with, etc.

If you are going to be there for a league event (or if you just want to be on or next to the strip in any case), many people aren't aware but there are some nice Airbnb's within a very short, easy walk of various parts of the strip. Depending on which venue/hotel the event is at or you want to be near to, there just may be an Airbnb that is just a few hundred yards away that is way bigger, nicer, and cheaper than staying at pretty much any hotel on the strip.

Jewett might know a good hotel. I'm pretty sure he stayed W of the fwy at least one time.
I did, but the OP is travelling with his wife and daughter, so his considerations are different. If he's going to do the non-Strip stuff, being near the Strip might not be useful. I like booking.com which includes all kinds of places. It is sometimes best to discover the hotel on a booking site and them call them directly. Booking.com sometimes gets deals that the hotel doesn't offer directly.

The particular place I found before a mile west of the Strip seems to have wildly varying prices depending on the dates.

Shit on going to a pool room while you’re there. 👎🏻
I usually stop at Griffs and catch up with R Wiseman but I tend not to stay long, the action tables are right when you walk in and there's usually not many watching, once in a while you can catch a match for 100k + , always 1 pckt. More than likely not much going on.

Like you said, why spend time in a poolroom when you're in Vegas

Sorry didn't know his daughter was real young. Be cool to be there for the Swanee, a two day event if yah wanted to see some good play and just show up for the semis/finals.

She will be 21 in May. Stopping at Griffs would be a brief visit. If I'm in Vegas, I figured it couldn't hurt to drop in for a few. It certainly won't be what the trip is centered around, if I have any plans of remaining married.
😉👍

As for places to stay my personal fav is VDara. It's smack dab in the middle of Bellagio, Cosmo and Aria. Each one can be walked to in less than 4 min. But it's non gaming so you can get away from that easily at any time. No restaurants but there's a lobby bar and a convenience store. There's also a Starbucks but it was often closed last time I was there so not sure what's up with that.

You're just so close to everything staying at Vdara and getting to Griff's is a breeze as well maybe 10 min drive if that without even touching the strip which can be a nightmare traffic wise.

If I didn't stay at Vdara I'd stay at Park/NoMad. Non smoking property with several great restaurants under one roof.

Everything is expensive. Yes, many places will be cheaper. Especially downtown but if you're going, do it right.

I also have a soft spot for Venetian/Palazzo as that's where my wife and I got married. Love the property and staff there is generally great.
I used to love staying at the Vdara when I went to LV for work in the 2012-2016 range. It was one of the only non-smoking venues on the Strip, low prices post-recession and the rescue of City Center, beautiful rooms and views. Presumably the prices are no longer low.
