VEPP online video clips

I personally like it when new products are announced on the Main Forum. I never visit any of the other forums. This is where I come for my information, and I like to know when new instructional materials become available. For example, I was happy to learn about Stan's DVD, Nathan's DVDs, Gene's DVD, Lee's new book, etc. If they weren't announced here, I might not have known about them.

Regards,
Dave

X2 for me too.

This offer IS for the VEPP. Don't know if additional sets (beyond two), would be accepted as that would result in a greater and greater discount for each of us - but Dr. Dave did say be creative. Anyone else who wants a set just add your name to the list. We can try to all go together but realistically would have to pair up in twos.

I have the VEPS, and from what the VEPP free clips show it is a stand alone series. Learning comes from doing, so the VEPP is more relevant for me. While it's a logical progression from the VEPS, to me the VEPP would be the one to own if you were to only purchase one series.

I'd probably be up for this if anyone else wants to get together.

WAIT, I think I would need / want VEPP first since I dont have that one yet. Guess the offer does not qualify for that set.

Exactly. The Video Encyclopedia of Pool Practice (VEPP), done with Bob Jewett, and the Video Encyclpedia of Pool Shots (VEPS), done with Tom Ross, are quite different and each are stand alone; although, they do support each other. VEPP helps you develop and evaluate all of the skills you need, and VEPS covers all principles and shows how and why skills are applied in various game situations. I personally think most people could benefit more from VEPP, but I know many people might like VEPS better. I would generally recommend working with VEPP first before working with VEPS, but everybody has different preferences and learning styles. I look forward to hearing what those who own and have worked with both sets think about this.

That's a bit too creative! :o

The deal is: If you already own a full VEPP set, and you order a 2nd set (e.g., for a friend, family member, or teammate), I will issue a 50% refund on the second purchase.

The creative approach that I am allowing and encouraging is: If two AZB members get together and both purchase a single set, and one of the members sends me an e-mail or PM after both orders have been placed, I will post a 25% refund on each person's account separately and mail the sets to the addresses indicated on each of the separate orders. Orders must be placed here:

It is up to you guys to coordinate and find a "purchasing partner." Thank you for helping to organize this.

Regards,
Dave

I only got a chance to watch the 1st and 5th DVD’s in VEPP series.
There were a couple interesting things.
Most of the stuff I was aware of from other sources.
If someone was not exposed to the information before this would be very valuable DVD.

It would have been nice to have more on mechanics.

I like VEPS better.

looks like northshore and I are going in. we'll be in touch !!!
Sounds good. Just send me an e-mail or PM after both orders are placed and I'll issue the refunds.

Bob and I hope you enjoy and benefit from VEPP.

Dave

How about, "If two or more AZB members get together...I will post a 25% refund..."

That way the three of us who are already interested in purchasing can proceed without waiting for a fourth, and if anyone else wants to pile on they can join in. You'd be able to identify us by the AZB PM, email, or a message in Paypal etc.

It sounds like you need to order the Disc II-IV package. Hint ... hint. ;)

Thanks for the feedback.

What things did you have in mind? I think we cover stroke mechanics fairly well on both VEPS-I and VEPP-I. VEPP-I also covers pre-shot routine and visual alignment fairly well. We also cover mechanics more in later discs when covering draw, power shots, jump, and masse shots, etc. We also have lots of articles and online videos covering mechanics. For example, see:

I like VEPS better.
Me too. Although, I think if people really want to improve their game, VEPP might be more helpful.

Dave

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I don't want to stretch the offer any further. (Although, if somebody can't find a new purchasing partner, they could creatively team up with a previous VEPP purchaser and share the 50%-off refund. That would be within my stretched rules.)

Dave

Oh well, these dang college professors are hard to manipulate.

I like your DVD’s and all in all it is one of the best stuff around, especially VEPS.

If you watched Max Eberle’s –‘Powerful Pool’ you know what I mean by more on mechanics.

Nice videos of techniques.
If you are showing draw technique it would be good to see the person from the side to see hand movement, especially on long distance power draw and follow, etc.
There are many ways to setup and stroke the ball. It would be nice to have Bob discuss the differences and the nuances of each setup and stroke technique.

I will get around to watching DVD’s 2,3,4 soon, just no time at this moment. :)

The offer applies only to VEPP, but if you wanted to get both VEPS and VEPP, several discounted package deals are available on the VEPP ordering page (see the "Mega Package" offers).

I'll take that as a compliment.

Agreed. Max does an excellent job presenting mechanics and the fundamentals of the game. Randy and Scott's "Play Better Pool" DVDs are also good in this area.

One reason Bob, Tom, and I decided to not include more on mechanics is that many books, videos, and online resources already cover this stuff very well, even if they don't always agree on the best advice. Also, ideal mechanics and fundamentals can vary quite a bit from one person to the next, and somebody looking for help in these areas would probably be better off seeking help from a qualified and experienced instructor rather than from a book or video (although, books and videos can sometimes be helpful in these areas).

If you are showing draw technique it would be good to see the person from the side to see hand movement, especially on long distance power draw and follow, etc.

Bob uses a classic pendulum stroke on all shots. With power shots, he uses a longer bridge length, but everything else looks pretty much the same (near-level cue, relaxed grip, still elbow, etc.). Check out the online videos Bob and I posted dealing with grip, bridge, and draw. I think we cover most of the things you ask for and more, with lots of camera angles and shot examples. Here they are:

I will get around to watching DVD’s 2,3,4 soon, just no time at this moment. :)
We look forward to any additional feedback or critique you might have.

I'm still looking for a purchasing partner or a previous buyer who's willing to help me out with a 2nd purchase.

FYI, the deal below is still being offered to AZB users through the end of this month (2/29/12).

Bob and I were also still hoping to get more feedback from people who have viewed the DVDs by now. So please post your reviews ... positive or negative.

Thanks,
Dave
I just got the following message from an AZB'er:

Dave,
Last year I was able to take advantage of the sale you ran on VEPS for 25% off. You announced the sale on AZB, I then coordinated with another member and we both purchased using Paypal and split the 50% 2nd set discount.

Since your pre-orders are all filled by now, seems like a good time to run the same sale on VEPP! I'm in for the deal if it's able to be structured the same way.

Good idea! Here's the same promotion we had offered for VEPS:

As a special thanks to those who have already ordered the entire Video Encyclopedia of Pool Practice (VEPP) set, for a limited time (through the end of February, 2012), we are offering a 50% discount to AZB'ers for an additional set purchase. If you want to order a second set for a friend or family member (e.g., as a birthday gift), just place the order on the website and send me a PM or an e-mail asking for your discount. The 50% refund will be issued through PayPal, provided this is your second full-set purchase. Here's the ordering page.

Feel free to use the offer creatively, as some AZB'ers have done in the past.

Also, does anybody else have any feedback or reviews after viewing and working with the VEPP DVDs and online resources? Bob and I look forward to hearing how others perceive our new stuff.
