Very short but very funny pool video (30 seconds)

There was a guy here in Rochester whose favorite saying was "where's the nine ball". Some of the billiards, caroms and combinations he made through the years were mind boggling! Hard to get mad at the guy. He was so much fun to watch and listen to. We called him "Cement Man". You can probably guess his full time profession.

I laugh every time I see this. Ive probably watched it 100 times and still can't figure out how the guy in the chair gave himself a shot to the nuts. He's down for the count.

There was a guy years ago that would just try to go for the 9 almost every chance he got. He never got very far in tournaments despite that.

I have also seen players, with ball in hand and 2-3 balls left wide open, line up for a 8-9 or 7-9 combo.

Another one was a kid who everyone said was lucky, but that was because he took shots at the 9 all the time and of course if you try something 9 times a game you have a decent chance of succeding. I played him for $5 a rack one time, he started to go for the 9 on half his shots instead of playing position, after he did that a few games I focused a bit and won 12 games in a row. He's miss a shot or the 9 and I'd safe him or run out.

Funny,.... But not Funny

I was on the wrong end of something like that in a 9-ball APA Top Gun Tourney. Made 3 inna row like that right at the end. A TOP GUN tourney to boot !!!

That was one of the reasons I match-up now and no longer play APA :frown:
"Any Pocket A**hole !"

Why the continuous BS about the APA rule? I've had the "slop" happen far more times playing Joss 9 ball than I've seen in the 11 sessions of APA league pool I've played. Think there is way too much made of this. Do I like playing APA 8 Ball? Really, NO. But not for the reasons I keep reading about on AZ.

cardiac kid,

I think you are right, as I was just letting off some steam. That happened last Spring session. Just P/O'ed me to see a player I'll beat 3 of 4 times get by me on that kinda crap. I practiced my tail off b/c I knew I had some really good competition from 3 or 4 of the best in all the leagues. (One of them sent me to losers side, so I was pissed when capt'n "sloppy" decided to get lucky. The points per ball on losers side was 2pts/ball.)

needless to say I was pissed! Someday when I get a disciplined attitude like yours, perhaps it won't bother me so much.

P.S.
I love the nicknames ! but "tomato can??"

Years ago we had an APA type of league here for a short time and this gal talked my buddy and I into playing for her team. We made a pact to attempt the 9 ball on every single shot for the entire season and stuck to it. We had a lot of fun and a surprising amount of success.
