very slow

i been having the same problems, we need a computer geek to come in and do some house keeping with the software-its bogging down, and getting progressivly worse over the past few weeks.

Not sure if it's the software as i'm very familiar with vBulletin.

This likely has to do with the hosting provider. If this is on a shared hosting server it's probably maxing out on it's SQL connections. Most hosting providers have a maximum allowance of 50 concurrent connections which means anytime a user makes a request (clicks on a link) it takes up a connection for a few seconds. Hosting providers also limit the amount of CPU requests / load you are taking up.

There are remedies for this, however it usually involved upgrading your hosting account.

The answer is HostGator. They are the best hosting provider on planet Earth as far as I am concerned.

I bet they could handle AZ's traffic without breaking a sweat and cost less while doing it.

In fact I am chatting with them NOW at 1am USA time. - 3pm China time.

Depending on how heavy his databases are being hit it may be time to move towards a VPS or dedicated solution rather than a standard shared hosting package.

Welcome to AZB! It's been slow here on occasion since I joined a couple years back but has been very bad as of late. To me, it's not a big deal. It doesn't stay slow all the time and actually, patience (and time management) is a virtue that we could probably use a whole lot more of.

I use host gator also. They still have the limit on 50 concurrent connections unless your on a VPS or a dedicated server.

I agree that a VPS is the way to go. It's still not dedicated (many vps's running on a single hardware server), however it would probably be overkill to go totally dedicated.. I agree that host gator is a great hosting platform.

I have to say that with my old laptop AZ was pretty slow. With my new laptop and running google Chrome AZ is decently quick most of the time. Funnily enough AZ was faster on my IPOD touch and on my Android phone than on my laptop. But other websites weren't slow.

Now on my new Dell AZ is ok. So at least for me it's more of a device issue than a server side issue.
 
i also noticed this problem, maybe something wrong with the site. hoping that it will fix. Common Guys help the site and become a club member..

This morning, 14 Jan 2011, i tried to get on AZ starting at 0715, I finally got the page to load at 0750, clicked on main forum and did not get that to load until after 1000. Seems to be ok now. Note that during the start time and the load time to get to the main forum, i repeatedly went to other sites with no problem. Seems to be getting worse.

I saw the same thing during the same times.
 
Well I was gonna stay out of this one but maybe the folks in charge will take more interest if we keep it on the front page. SLOW, intermittenly for the last week or so. This is the only website I visit that loads this slowly, actually reminds me of dial up speed. You kinda sit there staring at a blank screen wondering how long can I do this before I give up???

had trouble getting on last night all the way through to this morning....I finally gave up 'til now.......seems to be ok again........
