The answer is HostGator. They are the best hosting provider on planet Earth as far as I am concerned.
I bet they could handle AZ's traffic without breaking a sweat and cost less while doing it.
In fact I am chatting with them NOW at 1am USA time. - 3pm China time.

Your question is, " can you handle a VB forum with 10,000 members? I would like to get my friend to switch to HG. "
(01:01:05 AM) System: There are currently 0 people in front of you and 84 chat technicians assisting customers.
(01:01:22 AM) Benjamin Mo: has entered the chat.
(01:01:28 AM) Benjamin Mo: Hello, welcome to HostGator Live Chat.
(01:01:29 AM) John Barton: Hello Benjamin
(01:01:54 AM) Benjamin Mo: Hello John, how active of a forum are we talking about in daily traffic?
(01:01:59 AM) John Barton: check out this forum
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=216184
(01:02:52 AM) John Barton: I don't know really - I'd say it has about 500 active members who contribute most of the content and probably several thousand lurkers who are accessing lots of pageviews
(01:03:45 AM) Benjamin Mo: It sounds from that like he may be outgrowing a shared server environment. From a technical standpoint the servers can handle that software. Depending on how heavy his databases are being hit it may be time to move towards a VPS or dedicated solution rather than a standard shared hosting package.
(01:04:05 AM) John Barton: cost?
(01:04:48 AM) Benjamin Mo: For a VPS, I'd probably start looking at a level 3 VPS, then he could upgrade or downgrade from there as needed without having to transfer the site around.
(01:05:12 AM) Benjamin Mo: Normally 49.95 a month for a managed VPS with cPanel
(01:05:30 AM) John Barton: that's sounds cheap
(01:06:11 AM) John Barton: can you tell whether they are on dedicated hosting now or not?
(01:06:33 AM) Benjamin Mo: That I cannot tell unfortunately, but browsing around here I can't see anything that uses a ton of power by itself
(01:07:13 AM) John Barton: The owner of the board is my friend and I am sure he has looked into various solutions
(01:07:16 AM) Benjamin Mo: It looks like the main issue is the number of MySQL queries
(01:07:20 AM) John Barton: but I love you guys
(01:07:36 AM) John Barton: so I want to pitch you and you service
(01:07:38 AM) Benjamin Mo: The reason I suggest a VPS is that he can modify the memory limits and simulataneous queries and that should help a lot
(01:08:17 AM) John Barton: ok, I will pass this info along in the thread and see if anyone bite
(01:08:20 AM) John Barton: bites
(01:08:29 AM) John Barton: thank you as always you guys rock
(01:08:33 AM) Benjamin Mo: The other reason I suggest a VPS is that if he does need more power we can upgrade it within a couple hours instead of building a new (dedicated) box and having to transfer.
(01:08:46 AM) Benjamin Mo: Alright. Is there anything else for right now then John?
(01:09:16 AM) John Barton: No thank you - I just wanted to prove a point that you are available any time and you know your stuff.
(01:09:28 AM) John Barton: Take care
