Turn your speakers' volume way up. Archer has run three racks of 8-ball on Earl. Johnny’s now typically playing very slowly and is meticulously studying a problematic situation. Commentators Mike Sigel and Grady Mathews can be overheard (by players and spectators alike) speculating: “There's no timer?” and Earl audibly proclaims “There should be.”

Watch Earl’s deliberate finger-pointing and arms-akimbo gestures all within Johnny’s peripheral vision. Also note Earl’s conversing audibly with the spectators prior to, and during, Johnny’s setting up for this delicate, just-barely-makeable shot on the 15-ball in the side.

Johnny, visibly rattled and angry by Earl’s moves, loudly shouts: ”When it’s your shot you can say something, when it’s my shot -- you shut up!”

Then after understandably missing the shot by a wide margin, you can hear Johnny telling Earl “Only way you can win is shark somebody!”

Here’s the link at the point where the situation starts, then escalates:

Same thing as the racking bs you see from some people. If they are allowed to do it and it works as a shark move they will continue to do it.

People get away with so much bs bad behavior these days (not just in pool). I do my best to do right by other people but some days it is tempting to just be another asshole. Life seems a lot easier for those guys.

Well - If Archer didn't take 43 minutes to shoot the damn ball this might not happen. A sharking technique is: purposely getting players cold by making them sit there watching you pose.

Put a damn shot clock in every tournament.

THAT was sharking? LOL. I've always liked Archer, but it was painful to watch him spend all afternoon lining up the crappiest shot on the table. Not really sure why he wanted that 15 so badly.

I like the way this man thinks. Some very quality posts.

What I don't understand is how Johnny became so slow. I have videos of him from the 90s and I wouldn't call him a slow player then. If he had such great success that decade, why slow down so much?

Didn't look like a big deal to me..Thought Earl was pretty good....Johnny takes forever to shoot..Between that and his lint picking and wanting cue ball cleaned all the time..That would annoy anyone...

What is this shooting away from it crap? Jack up and don't foul, that's all.

I'm surprised that Mark Wilson said Ronnie was forced to overcut the ball. No, he spun it the wrong way and missed.

Actually, not too bad of behavior out of Earl, but typical slow play by Johnny. Of course, if Earl's opponent had been flapping his jaws that much while Earl was at the table, Earl would have probably threatened to take his opponent out to the parking lot!

Earl can hear a mouse fart three blocks away when he's at the table and he's going to let the mouse know about it especially if he's down a couple of ganes!

What a rube! LOL

Im with earl on this one.

This might be the first time I would have to agree with that statement.

I dislike people like Earl that are disrespectful to the players and the game. More than that though, I dislike players that are slow.

At which point was this ? I got the link to the 3 hour video

Yeah, that room was so quiet that you can hear every single word coming from anyone that says anything. Everyone in that room should respect the player, and not make any sounds, or say anything while the shooter is at the table. I never liked a pool playing atmosphere similar to that one (when it is that quiet in the room, so quiet that you can hear all conversations going on). How can a player concentrate in that type of atmosphere, unless everyone in the room is absolutely silent? They need some type of music playing (like maybe classical music, or something that all the players would agree with). Anything would be better then that type of atmosphere. Earl should have known that in that atmosphere, Johnny could hear every single word he was saying. That was really not cool.

So, if you can't beat them, join them? People need to learn to be better and more considerate and respectful. But no, most just care about themselves. They will do anything to have even the slightest bit of an advantage to win.

The difference is that Archer was not doing it as a sharking move against Earl (in my opinion). I think that is just how Archer plays, and I know there are much slower players then him out there. Earl needs to learn to relax, and have some patience.
