Virtual pool 4

I remember getting VP1 with Lou Butera doing the trick shots! I'm looking froward to checking out VP4.

I have been following and awaiting the arrival of the game. I'm not sure if it's ever really going to happen. It was supposed to be launched over the summer and still no game.

I can't help but think that the game is a direct representation of the pool industry....half assed one man operation. No one will fault the guy for developing the game, but this won't be a studio quality game from my gathering.

I wish things were just taken seriously and done professionally around pool. Why isn't there a game studio that wants to put out a DECENT pool game?

Though I'm not sure what degree of quality is considered "decent" to you, may I recommend checking out a game called Carom 3D? It's free and not too shabby IMO. It has snooker, 6 reds snooker, 9 ball, 8 ball, 3 cushion, 10 ball (I think?), rotation, and some other games as well.

Call of Duty is decent
Halo is decent
Forza Motorsport 4 is decent
Grand Turismo is decent
Gears of War is decent
Dirt (the whole series) is decent

The list of "decent" games goes on and on and on.

The development that goes into pool games is ....well, generally not. But I'll check out your link. It's "cool" for us die hard fans as we'll play whatever we can get, and generally there is someone who has poured their heart and soul into making the game, but there's not a studio full of designers working to make a truely fantastic pool game.

Wouldn't you think by now a VERY realistic pool game would come out?

VP is not a decent game, is simply the best pool game ever. The physic, the collisions, the balls reactions are almost perfect. Squirt, swerve, throw, transfered spin, cushions compressions and so on are rapresented very very well. Take in mind this is a game released over 7 years ago. Take gran turismo 3 and you will see how ridicoulus the physic is and this is not the case of VP. If you talk about the marginal part of the game like the career, the graphic and so on, I agree they are not very good, but in term of the pool game VP is still a great game. Carom3d is an horrible game, very un-realistic. If you want to play a serious pool game Vp is the choice.

If you want a decent pool game, you can play real pool.

Most of the people that play those pretend war games don't sign up for real war.

I have never played VP myself; I was just under the impression that laserbrn wanted a game with good graphics. There is no doubt that Carom3D has ludicrous physics, but the artwork and design is quite realistic and modern.

Well I'm the type of guy who looks gameplay, I couldn't care less about graphic

VP4 is gonna be awesome!

Real players in the game, the best physics tech-stuff, new graphics engines, blah-blah...

The developer/owner is also terrific player himself!

It's awesome when pool people do other stuff!

I'm definitely not raggin' on VP. I think it's the best franchinse of games that's been out. I played VP3 incessantly years ago. I am long awaiting the arrival of VP4!

I certainly do appreciate the work the dev has done and the great product that he has made. I just think it stinks that there isn't a large game studio that's wanted to tackle this game and make a great franchise out of it.

Physics, graphics, career mode, all top notch.

The only thing I didn't like about the VP series is the AI. The computer players AI was not very good, but to be fair it has to be pretty difficult to create accurate player AI.

True, I suggest you to play online. Lol play against tall Steve, he kicks 10x better than Efren.
What do you think about the physic of VP?

I think they are excellent, but there is room for a little improvement. The jump shots are a little off, and sometimes the force is a little touchy. If they could mimic "skid" I would be really impressed.

All in all there physics are outstanding though.:D
