Pilot's play flight simulations. Any pool players here play the virtual pool video game? I wonder if it helps.

It depends. I think it certainly might help for thinking out run outs and pattern play. As far as aiming is concerned I think a game that provides aiming aides would be far more usefull as you would be constantly seeing these angles and eventually burning them into your brain somewhat.

I won't buy a video pool game that doesn't use aiming aides. I just can't justify spending my money to play worse pool in a game than I do in real life.

virtual pool 3 is an amazing game. and cameron, it doesn't take long before you can aim just fine without any aiming aids.

I'm not sure whether it would help my aiming since I always use it with "tracking" on, but I think it helped my pattern play a lot. After running 150-and-out at straight pool two consecutive times at VP, I got my highest ever score at Equal Offense.

Virtual Pool 3 got a update that you can download but gotta pay bout 9 bucks for.........

I play it online all the time........we also get on yahoo messenger and get on voice and talk to each other while playing..........fun times!

lol! i got interested in pool by whupping my friend's butt in yahoo pool. the pockets were way smaller and the english was unrealistic so it took some time to adjust. but it really gets you to understand the angles. i recommend a pool game where there is a player's view where you're looking down the barrel of a cue and turn off the aiming guides. it can help you aim better and get a better sense of the angles. but in regards to speed control and english, that only comes with table time.

Virtual Pool 3 is the game for you............ you can use either the table top view or players eye view.........

www.celeris.com Download the whole game and get the seriual code for it for only 10 bucks. play it on gamespy with us!

I bought VirtualPool3 back when JLee was the character. They have a newer version now, but no more JLee...

Best video pool sim out there, and has multiplayer capability, as long as everyone is using the same version.

I play Pogo Pool online sometimes. A lot of people say it's the worst. Is there a better one online? Johnnyt

Just picked up a copy of VP 3 and looking forward to play it. It's great for when the pool hall is closed or when you're just feeling too lazy to drive out.

Game download costs $21.95 according to the website. Is there a way to get it for $10?

it's a really cool game. One feature I like is that it can save individual shots or games and you can then replay them. There's a whole library of built in trick shots + you can save your own. There's a really funny one somebody made where they have 15 balls scattered around seemingly at random and they just smash the cueball into one of them at warp speed, and it just lightly grazes all the balls, pocketing them as it flies around the table.

Has 3C in there too.

You can download the game for free..................When you buy you get a discount which equals to around 10 bucks total..... You are mainly only buying the serial cose so you can register the game to get it to work...

That's a nice one. I never thought about trying 14.1 in VP seriously because I decided it was useless against virtual opponents. But patterns is what I suffer at (end game especially), so I gave it a try yesterday. I didn't turn "tracking" on, instead I used an option to "undo" the shot in case I missed (which was rare to happen) or misplayed position (which happened more often). I was able to run 26 quite easily then. I hope to improve my pattern play with use of VP. It won't give the same feel for the shots like real play but the advantage is that you can play certain positions over and over again and, very important, balls can be racked at a glimpse of an eye when trying various breaks.

Bob, 150-and-out must be terrific even at VP!

btw could anybody give me a hint how to play 14.1 in set-up mode?
I would prefer to set up a position (ex for a secondary break shot) myself and practice it further, and it works okay until I pocket all the balls but the last one. In a normal game the balls are re-racked then, but it is not like that in set-up mode. The manual says "press ESC and select New game to re-rack", but I don't see New game there.

I've never played Virtual Pool 3, but I played all the other ones in the series (VP, VP 2, VP Hall). They all function on the smae basic concepts. I thought the game was quite outstanding. Interestingly enough, the way I aim in real life is exactly the way I aim in the game. I use the "ball overlap" method. This is basically where I see how much of the object ball the cue ball is going to eclipse. Though repetition of I come to associate these different fullnesses of hit with a trajectory for the object ball. It works quite well, and is VERY easy to apply to Virtual Pool. As a consequence I don't need to use any aiming aids. I should try the upgrade on my nice new computer.

Never did think about trying straight pool either. Could be fun.

PS- I forgot-the original claim on the box was "guaranteed to improve your real pool game or your money back"

The best part of VP3 is the on-line play.Almost always numerous challenge rooms and several tournaments every week.Once you start playing real people on-line you wont be interested in the single player mode anymore. If you see me in the lobby(same name as here) give my a shout and I'll be more than happy to set up a private room for some 14.1 or 1P.

lunatic I seen you in hte room a couple of times.. HARD to find anyone to play some 1 Hole........I use the same name as here....... Peace
