Cancel your reservation immediately! You can usually do so with over 48 hours notice. You might lose your first day's deposit (one night's rental). Good luck!

Hope he didnt do one of those 'pay-in-advance' deals for a nice discount. They are non refundable but still id give begging a try.

Anyone who was at her event in Florida and chose to go to this one, I don't feel sorry for you one bit. You should have known. Anyone who hasn't experienced an event run by her in the past and thinks shes a "good person" and that automatically translates into a good promoter, I feel your pain but I hope you've learned something.

Who was the sponsor that flaked out? Was it disclosed?

My guess is the Hard Rock(owned by the Seminoles) had something to do with it. They were usually the money sponsors for the tournaments in Florida. Could be wrong, just guessing.

Anybody wanting to put something on in Atlantic city should look at the Showboat, the hotel is still open but the entire Casino is gone, leaving a lot of unused space. Could be an option.

Feel very bad for all who paid for travel and lodging to this event.

Vivian should have known better - sponsor $$$ needed to be posted on the light. :yeah:

best,

Terrible news for those people who had made their travel plans and taken time off work, etc. but not really a huge surprise.

I interacted once with Vivian a few years ago on a business level - that was enough to make me never want to repeat the experience.

Bet a lot of them did.

Yeah they are hard to resist but just one time that you cant go when it is a few days or more will more than offset years of savings for most people.

Still, if you show them the event has been cancelled they MIGHT have mercy on you. Hotwire refunded me once on a non refund deal for similar reasons.

Was it this time last year that she got into a public bashing of John Morra because he had some concerns?
I remember seeing the hard-to-watch, no table lighting and the players having to play on dim arena lights from 60 feet above and I had concerns myself even as a spectator from afar.

any links?

When you ask that question you are assuming something. I wouldn't.

Perhaps more appropriate verbiage would hav included 'allegedly'...but still, she points a finger.

Am I correct she has not specifically identified whom she contends is responsible?

Correct, I mean even if there was a sponsor and there was a contract she still shoulders the blame for not having the $$ in escrow. But if there was a sponsor and a contract, posting who it was and a copy of said contract would go a long ways for people sympathetic to her. The lack of posting either just fuels the rest of us that know shes a total joke of a promoter and there have been enough examples to back this up.

Sure...and if it is a big company, it would either have the nuts contractually, or be able to bankrupt her very quickly via a legal team. Plus, what was the expected investment? 20k? 100k? Crumbs.

Suit will go nowhere good for anybody.

I don't understand how the event can't continue because of 1 sponsor. Is she saying the entire 100k added was from one source and she didn't have that source put the money in escrow well in advance of yesterday? Why on the flyers for the event were there not any major sponsors listed? Why on the website for the tournament were there no major sponsors listed? Wouldn't a company that is putting up a substantial amount of $$ want their name all over everything that has to do with the tournament? None of it makes sense.

Anything is possible but I find it hard to imagine that a bicycle company, high end bikes at that, would ever consider sponsoring a pool tournament. It just wouldn't reach their type of customer base, at all.

Well, that's just ignant.

Obviously, they thought pool was bike in their language and when they discovered the error...

Like that time we went to 'mens night' at the bar, remember? But you stayed...how was that?

She talked about it on one of Bond's (RIP) podcasts shortly after the event.

I remember that podcast. She talked about a TV broadcast deal. It sounded to good to be true. She provide no details about sponsorship or the TV deal. I thought at the time is was a Field of Dreams. Looks like they didn’t come.
