Wal-Mart the Billiards Store?

Stay out of Wal Mart and buy from one of the advertisers on this forum.

Why are you advertising for them????

Prices are good, its going to put a bit of pressure on the retailers that come to the tournments. Thats the down side, the up side is it will put more product into the publics hands and that cant hurt pool. So its kinda a bitter-sweet thing. Times are changing and we all have to adapt or get left behind, its stressful yet exciting.

That's exactly right. Wal-Mart sucks, but in a way more people will be able to see what real pool equipment is supposed to look like, and maybe that will spark something.

There are tons of people who get into the 'golf equipment' thing and can't play a lick. They get the whole shabang and it cracks me up. They get the fancy bag, clubs, balls, outfits, when still shooting in the triple digits. I see it all the time. After a while though, some people run across the right person that points them in the right direction instead of just taking advantage of them, and that lucky person becomes instantly enlightened.

I think the same will happen for pool. If mainstream quality is bumped up, the overall participation will be affected by sending a ripple effect across the industry.

Very interesting!

They are selling an Aramith set for about $40.00, and it includes an extra golden 8 ball.

Can anyone tell me if this "Silk Screen Printed" set is any good? Of course it is the cheapest Aramith pool set. I suppose that silk screen is the method used to print numbers and stripes on the balls, but then...what is the process used on their other sets that are not "silk screen printed"?

I interviewed for a job at WalMart.com about 10 years ago. At the time, they were considered a separate division from the brick-and-mortar stores. WalMart.com's headquarters is in Northern California and WalMart is headquartered in Arkansas. I am assuming they are still separate today.

WalMart.com selling cues is like Amazon.com selling cues. It looks like they both act as affiliates for other sites for the high-end items and can ship the lower end items themselves. Using Schon cues as an example, the ones being sold on WalMart.com are shipped by CSNStores.com. The same cues on Amazon are shipped by PoolDawg.

A $50.00 dollar McDermott cue? Cheap Aramith Balls? It sounds like the same old big retailer, cheap product thing going on. I'll be surprised if there is any success to this at all.
