Wanted 6 point Black Boar

i got one but not cheap! do a search on azb for pictures of the cue

KD

I used to have one very similar to yours. Had the same ring in the sleeve...and if I recall, the points were similar, too.

I had Tony rework the think to a piece of art - and while I couldn't play a lick with it, it was SO sweet.

If I were you (and clearly, I'm not - because you have a BB and I don't ;) ), I wouldn't sell yours.

But that's just me.

i thought about jazzing it up and have tony put some fancy inlay work into the cue. But, i don't collect cues and it has gone up in value!

it was the 1st 6 pointer out of the shop and you can check that with vince from black boar and others. i just don't use it as my player for obvious reasons any more and eventually i will probably sell for something special for my daughters like college fund.

it is still climbing in value so will hold on I think! Russell at the shop said they make less than 8 or 10 cues a year and good luck getting one of those.

As I recall Mike's was one of the first six pointers we made. Was it THE first one? I honestly couldn't say but I've known Mike and his Dad, Dennis a very long time. I have no reason to doubt his word. They're a standup family for sure. Mike being Kid Dynomite.......(a name he REALLLLLY needs to fade in my humble opinion)

Long story on the name! It doesn't fit me I agree! I was King Kong first then someone thought I was Chavez. So, I took kid dynomite after jj on good times the tv show.

Recently had issues cause Appleton has nickname dynamite and it causes confusion. Only nickname given to me by Sam and Ackman two black players from Detroit is the " DC sniper'" they came up with that one at derby! I got a chuckle!

I remember getting that cue and having pick of the litter with the first batch of six pointers. I believe it was first one out the shop being the first batch but anything is possible.

Is that a six or an eight point cue? It looks very familiar. I believe it started life as an AS5 but had the butt cap replaced and made prettier and the additional four points were cut in after the fact. I say that because if you look at the dashes in the heel you'll see they're absolutely 90 degree corners. Which means they were put in as a ring. Had that been a later cue we made those dashes would have been CNCed in and they'd have a gentle radius to the corners. Also.....the white veneers in the points are folded fiber. You can see the small seam at the tip. The six pointers we made like Mike saw had solid hardwood veneers, no fold, no seam.

In fact.....take a look at the link KD posted above. His six pointer has the solid hardwood veneers so you can see the difference.....no seam, solid wood. This cue absolutely started life as an AS-5. Very pretty though. Looks to have the second original wrap on it. The first one would have been removed for the remachining. Neat cue. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane.

Not sure what that is but not 100% original with a pronge butt cap.

Not necessarily... the dash inlays could have been inlaid as well even with sharp corners... Knifed in to finish the pockets or inlaid into radius'd pockets with black epoxy so the glue lines don't show since it's inlaid into ebony... Both methods are commonly done...

Agree

I saw a similar cue 4 yrs. ago at the SBE with the same type butt cap.I was told it was a converted 4 pointer.
