I have not posted anything on the W/FS forum since it has gone over to the new system but I couldn't help but notice how apparently the change has had a big cooling effect on activity.

There are threads right now, for instance, still on page 1 with timestamps from yesterday at 4 am. That's 29 hours and still on page 1.

So I'm wondering, is it the complexity of using the Panjo system?

Is it a general lack of interest in buying/selling?

Are sellers seeking oither outlets like ebay and facebook?

Something else, maybe?

Let me know what you all think.

I have some good stuff to sell and am not keen on getting into a big learning curve, especially if there's not many people visiting our For Sale section these days.

Thanks.

best,
brian kc

Many are starting to take advantage of Other outlets and social media...that said AZ will do what it wants for its own agenda and though it will affect many now, in the long run won't hurt the site at all... I personally won't use it like I did in the past but I'm just one little fish. Easily replaced...

In 5 years there will be another change for the ultimate benefit of the business that many will complain about that will fall on deaf ears once again and like I eluded to before, rightfully so... Business don't survive because of what they do for you, They survive on what they do for themselves.... Sad but true.. Unless you're the business.. :o

I hate Panjo. I'm packing up and leaving. If anyone wants to buy from me you can find my listings in the classified section of The Daily Advance newspaper from Elizabeth City, NC.

But seriously, I do hate it.

The w/FS forum has changed my default view to reflect most recently posted threads, and not the most recent thread activity. It makes it look more dead than it really is, since I only see new threads and not all the bumps, price changes, etc.
It would be useful except for those who just update a single thread with what they're selling.

Enforcement of existing rules utilizing the forum software would have been a more palatable change. I think every single purchase here by me was made on impulse, and anything that makes it harder to find random items and deals hurts a casual impulse buyer.

There is one social media area that has grown a fair amount in the last couple weeks. It was big before but it's larger now. I loved watching the "rotation" of cues even though I haven't purchased one here yet and the bumps never bothered me as it showed me it was still available. Hope it goes back to the old way or I'm afraid it will die. I do agree the site should make something off of the sales so I would simply limit it to gold members online or even create a new "rank" that allows you to sell.

I find myself in the unusual position of visiting the Main forum than the Wanted/For Sale Forum these days..never thought I'd see myself doing that. Will more than likely go back to selling on Ebay with a Reserve or Buy It Now option in place and just place a link on the Ebay Auction section.:(

^ THIS ^ is why it appears like activity has slowed. Please click on "Last Post" in the header row at the top of the list of posts and you will get the previous sort order and all will be well.

There has been 35 pages on new threads created in the past two weeks... It's not slowing down.

Bought my last cue via FB...worked out great! I find that people are more prone to call out, and name, scammers there pretty immediately. There is no fear there of getting banned for having the wrong name in your mouth...all are fair game. My transaction was done in short order, arrived as described and promised, and feedback was left. Kinda like the ol' days.

The changes didn't address the real problems. It just hid the real problem through a process and created a bunch more issues that ultimately will lead to people not using the forum as frequently as they used. This isn't good for the cue market either. Its certainly going to lead to less exposure for new up and coming cue makers. No matter how you slice it ebay isn't a great alternative.

I can't understand the reluctance to empower additional moderators. That would have solved half the problems. It comes with the territory when you get to be the size that this forum has become. I don't see how this is in any way a good thing for AZ as a whole.

I've suggested some changes that I think benefit everyone.

1. Install an autobump feature. Set it to every 72 hours.

2. Anyone who wants to pay 2 dollars per listing will receive an autobump every 24 hours. Up to a predetermined time period like 30-60 or 90 days.

3. Those who list or regularly have more than 5 cues a month need to register as a dealer. AZ has the right to designate you a dealer as well based on your history in that section. There should be a nice dealer package that gives them autobumps every 24 hours for an unlimited amount of time for a reasonable monthly or annual fee.

4. There should be a small team of mods for that section. Once an item has sold the thread is locked. Not removed.

Probably a few other smaller changes would help as well. The current state of things, although well meaning, isn't a good solution.

Hey guys' remember how it used to be...?
Oh my how times have changed....

I'd say the new format has put a slow to it and ppl are posting items on panjo directly and going around AZB.

I don't like it.

You prefer to see old listings that were bumped by " it hits a ton" ?

The amount of selling is the same, the diff is I'm not seeing the same "monster" cue on page one for 7 straight days cause the "buddy system" does not work any more.

The only folks that are NOT going to like this are those folks that want to keep their ads in front all day.

For everyone else, it's great. You get home from work, and you can actually see something new that was listed, and it's not buried on page 3 already after 6 hours.

So, not sure how that could be bad. If you want to check on the for sale threads, a very quick scan will let you know everything that was posted today... nothing interesting to you, and your work is done.

Come back tomorrow and take another quick look. No wading through 10 pagers to see a new item for sale. I can see it on Page one, if not interested, I'm done....very nice.
