Wanted/For Sale Section to Change in New Year

So, I guess the really pertinent question is: Where are you all, with NEW products to sell, gonna take your business?

I just wanted to share my thoughts.

I like seeing the cuemakers cues, and I think I it would be sad missing out on those. But that is a personal opinion. I'm afraid that a lot of people, would miss out on a lot of good deals. Even if they want a cheap used production cue or an expensive cue for a collection.

A few rules, I would like is, ban people if they break the rules:
-No bumps, people will look at the things they want to look at, bump or not.
-No duplicate threads, if people just make new instead of bumping.
-No eBay links or links to business related sites.

Of course people should be allowed to sell both expensive Gina cues, and also cheap phillipine cues, there should be room for us all.

About the adds, all in all, is this a money question? or is it to make sellers more serious and root out the spammers?

But it should be fair also to sell a cheap $100 dollar cue without paying too much. Would it maybe be possible, to make it cost maybe 1-5% of the selling price of the cue? make a field to enter price, then it would not be part of the description, and it should not be changeable. If seller wants to lower price, that's fair enough, but he would not get money back for the price of the add. That would also mean one add per sale no threads with several cues. This would also make the search option more efficient.

It's kind of upsetting to see these changes taking place. I really enjoyed seeing what cuemakers were churning out of their shops. I definitely kept my eye on a few for when it was in my budget to pull the trigger on a custom cue. I also enjoyed buying little pool accessories from dealers since most of them offered free shipping.

I suppose I'll start browsing the cuemaker section to drool over stuff. I also hope that dealers will make it obvious in their signatures that they still sell those little nick-nacks.

My suggestion is that we make a dealer and cuemaker section for the W/FS forum and charge them something in order to post on there.

I agree, mostly. But that philosophy leaves no room for someone like me who builds customs to order. I put an add on and let people order from it. A price per item sold like ebay would be ok with me. I sell on my own forum I just started, but still don't want to be aced out of here completely. I am sure someone will come up with a solution that works for everyone.

Like I said there is a lot of gray area in there rules. What is new and what is used? If chalk it is it used? If I hit balls with it is it used? If i wanted to sell a cue in the for sale section it wouldn't affect me bc I play with every cue before it leaves my shop. No exception so therefore every cue is used.

What I honestly think will happen in the cue gallery will become the new wanted for sale section for new cues.
You could post a cue in the gallery and state cue is available. Email or on me. Also could put a language in the text such as "comparable cues start at $XYZ" which tips off the price of the cue.

Speaking of rules, something should be done to eliminate the scammers in this forum! Are you ever going to make good on the people you ripped off?

I guess they will ban me when they ban you for going into every thread just to cause trouble. You sir are the problem with az. Atleast I contribute.
Maybe they should make a rule about troublemaker like yourself and Staying out of thread just to flame.

OMG...Enuf already.

Time to shut down this topic. This section is intended for the purchase and sale of pool items, albeit used according to the forum's new approach. But this is not a discussion forum as some earlier poster referred to it....it's for buying and selling.

Discussions like this belong on the main forum and let's quit all this BS and banter...the forum will be changing, ya got nothing to say about it, start complying or get off the forum and let's keep this section limited to its charter intention..."BUY & SELL"...not endless rhettoric and jibberish that belong on Twitter & Tweet messages....this topic has degraded into a book club discussion conducted by a bunch of old housewives with nothing better to do than sit around and gossip.

It's simple...... Either Get With The Program or Get Your As_ Off The Forum....let the forum owners/operators do whatever they please.

These changes are short sighted and poorly conceived imho. Whether it was originally intended or not, AZ has become the 'monster arena' for all kinds of people to come together within the buy/sell/trade marketplace for nice, custom pool items likes cues and cases. Being niche items, their following and presence here generally doesn't interfere or compete with run of the mill mass-production stuff. Niche items from small niche sellers that are more than likely not able to justify spending a thousand or two on banner ads. Sad day for AZ indeed.

I fear these changes (if they stand as such) will further depress an already tenuous market and increase the proliferation of 'junk items' and scams here....which ironically were a few of the chief complaints I always kept reading about when people were discussing problems and offering suggestions.

Hopefully the powers at be on AZ will see what it is they actually have here....and perhaps offer up a better solution that 'includes' rather than 'excludes'. Seems like an opportunity lost on their part and nothing gained.

Hi Sean:

I could not agree with you more. Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones.

Mike

Another site I am on (not pool related) does it this way. Free members get One (1) ad per month. No bumping from the original poster until someone else has posted on the thread. ALL ads get deleted (or locked, I don't remember) after 30 days. Only 1 "bump" every 24 hours.

There are different levels of membership the cheapest level is $10 per year, you get 3 posts in the for sale section every 30 days. Same rules as above. The levels go up and the number of ads you get go up.

They have a "Power Sellers" forum, power sellers pay $50 for 6 months and get as many ads as they want in there own section.

No editing the title and no changing the stuff in the ad.

This is all from memory if anyone wants more information I can get the rules from the other site and a link. I "think" all of the stuff they have done is all in the software so it doesn't take much manual work.

It is almost the first of the year, and I am still not sure what all of the new rules are here. As of now, any of my new sales will be on the forum I have in my signature as I wait to see what happens here...thanks to everyone.

I don't know. There is still a sticker on it, and not a ding or speck of
chalk anywhere. I was told it was never used. If you buy a car, and
have it delivered on a flat back, and put it in your garage without ever
starting it up, is it still new 10 years later? I'm not sure what the
guidelines are. Your garage or the showroom. Does the location of
the car decide if its new or not?

Cars are new until the MSO is switched in to a name, then it is considered titled. Guess we could have CIN (cue identification numbers) and paper work for each sale

Ideally a sub-forum will be created for dealers, makers, and frequent sellers (more than 2 cues/month). Those who post in the forum will pay an annual "Sponsor's" fee. It doesn't have to be a lot of money, say $100/year. The regular Wanted/For Sale forum will then be dominated, as it was intended, by members selling or trading an occassional used cue. Links in signatures should be disabled for this group, then it could remain a free service.

Other than in their signature (sponsor's only)...IMO, at no time should a post simply be a link to outside sales...unless of course the poster is willing to purchase a banner ad.

Of course the mods will decide what is best, and I support their decision no matter which way it goes!
