WARNING: eBay sale

Pre-Flag Master

Cue Ball Man
Silver Member
There's an auction on eBay right now for pre-flag Master chalk. This person is using one of manwon's pictures and one of mine. Not saying the chalk is not legit, just saying the pictures are not of the actual chalk being sold, so be careful. This person is driving distance from Johnny Archer's pool room in Marietta GA. He should just contact Archer and sell it to him. Funny too since he mentions Archer in his description.

Actually that is what you're saying is that it's not legit. Why not just send the guy an e-mail and ask him what the deal is before "outing" him here? It does look fishy. What's so special about old chalk anyway?

Looks fishy to me, also. How difficult could it be to take a picture of the actual chalk being sold? At a minimum, they should state that the pictures are not of the item being sold. And it's not cool to use someone else's pics without their knowledge.

If it's being sold for more than $.25 a cube, it's BS anyway. There is NO difference between "pre-flag" and "post-flag" Master Chalk. That comes directly from the manufacturer, plus my own personal experience.

I love the part of thee-bay AD that says:

"You are buying, 3 pieces of antique chalk. On each order, I will select the 3 best pieces I can find in the case. If you are unhappy with them, you may return them at my expense. These are a must for every collector to have. As the supply of them dwindles, the price will keep going up until one day they will be $30 a cube. They are a good investment. "

I say dreamer, but I could be wrong...

Everybody is looking for the "magic elixer", chalk, cue, lessons, karma, meds. . .

there is always someone willing to sell . . .

some of it is real and if you are my age you know, some of it was BOOOOOOOOOOOOGUS:grin:

He doesn't deserve an email, he didn't ask to use photo's that were posted on this site to help others. Photo's are concidered personal property, Now I could care less if photo's of something I post used for there intended purpose, but the correct way to do that is to ask for permission. In fact I did just that very thing today, some one posted up some photo's of forearms that were unfinished that were made by Gus Szamboti. I want copies for my archive and I ask the member and received permission to down load and use them.

In my opinion if he has the ability to post photo's, why not take photo's of what he is actually selling if it is a legit product.

Well...he is a new ebayer and probably doesn't have a camera or doesn't know how to use it.

Nothing wrong with using stock photos, lots of people do it.

There's been times when people used my photos, but it's all good.

One person used my picture of break tips for years. He didn't know it, but

the break tip was flared...14mm where you chalk it tapered down to 13mm.

It's not easy to be a new seller on ebay. Lots of restrictions.

I wouldn't be upset about it. I'd just wish him luck.

I don't care if he is new or not it doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to ask permission, that is the issue here. Then no one also knows if what he is selling is what is advertised. But soon we will find out, because I have ordered some of the chalk from him so that I can get his name and see what he is selling.

I will post more information later when it all comes together hopefully he will step up and say something before I find who he is!!:grin-devilish:

one should not f with the warlock!!:D

He's backed by the Lock Society:thumbup:

You know buddy I don't care if some one uses or deletes anything I post here. But if they are going to us photo's it just common courtesy ask permission, I down load pictures all the time but I also always ask the member who posted them.

Check out this email the guy sent me:

How do you not know, you stole them from me? What proof do you have, they are yours, just because you posted them somewhere? Do you have any better things to do today than this?

A little bird told me his user name so I will out him very soon for being a such a bone head!!!:D

that chalk is a b.s. scam itself. there is zero difference in the old and new masters. i have called and asked about this myself.
anyone selling it as something else should be banned

i advise anyone interested in buying this chalk call masters first and here it from them and save yourself a ton of money in the meantime

He closed the old auction and opened a new one, using his own pictures now...

The picture thing doesn't bother me as much as the idea that he might be selling Master chalk that is pre-flag, but POST FORMULA CHANGE.

Actually, anyone could easily be a victim of this and not necessarily mislead by the seller intentionally. Calling it "pre-flag" really is a misnomer. There was a period of a few years where the newer formula was being made before the flag was added to the label. We should call it something else, like "pre-change" or something.

Hey Craig I understand the thing looks hinky. No doubt about that. Stealing someone elses pictures is chickenshit at least. I was just pointing out that the OP said he wasn't calling it crooked when that's what the whole post was about. It made me chuckle. "Hey I'm not saying your a crook or anything you thieving bastard". If that's it fine, just spit it out man. Still don't know what's so good about old chalk to make it worth more than a dime a cube. Sounds like snake oil to me. I guess it's just one more excuse us pool players use for failure. I would have won if I had better chalk damn it!!
