We had free streams on Ustream last year, I am hoping we have those again because paying $15 for something that people in other countries can watch on their cable TV package is a little weak TBH.

That's actually an interesting point.

Live feeds of Sky Sports are a dime a dozen online. The question is, is it immoral to watch the free versions of the live feed? It includes commercials and such, and is free to other countries....so I'm a little unsure.

I'll likely just pay for the feed in hopes that a portion of it goes to Matchroom, but I'm interested to hear what people have to say about this.

Wow, free on Ustream? Interestinng... but I didn't know that.

Technically, it isn't exactly free for them. In UK, each taxpayer pays 'Tele-Tax' whether they watch the program or not, so in a way, they paid for it.

I think $4.99 each day or $14.99 for entire program (Thurs-Sun) is a bargain of deal for PPVs... I believe in supporting our industry.

For the record Matchroom tried to get ESPN involved airing the Mosconi Cup but ESPN wasn't interested.

I often wonder about that... with free and easy to use software, someone could easily stream, for free, a PPV stream simultaneously... I would love to be able to rewatch some of the PPV's I've purchased, but I just can't bring myself to use the tools required to do it - because they all require to simulcast it publicly and record to my channel history. :/

On what dates will it be played?

Dec 8-11, 11 am PT/ 2 pm ET.

If you want to watch the action live, Mosconi Cup tickets are still available through Ticketmaster (1-800-745-3000) or MGM Resorts Contact Center (1-866-740-7711) and also available at Ticketmaster and MGM Resorts Ticketing Outlets.

Not to me it is not. If something is on TV in one place and is not even aired at all in my own country I have zero problem watching it online for free. This thing is being played in America at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, it is called the "Mosconi Cup", Mr. Mosconi WAS American, and it is not even available to watch on American TV?

I will be paying for the Oscar vs Raj TAR as that is a proper exclusive PPV. If I cannot find a free stream of the Mosconi Cup I wont be watching it at all. I refuse to pay for something that SHOULD be available in America on live cable TV and that is being seen live in countries across the friggin Atlantic ocean on live cable TV.

It is not a matter of money in this instance, it is a matter of principle. I will happily be shelling out $35 to TAR for this weekend for TAR 32, I will not pay Livesport.tv $15 for a live stream of the Mosconi Cup. I know that my money that I spend on the TAR match helps promote an important part of this failing sport, I don't think the $15 I could spend on the stream of the Mosconi Cup would help promote this sport in the slightest and IMO livesport.tv is the WRONG outlet for an event like the Mosconi Cup which SHOULD be on live TV and by paying livesport.tv for the steam I am basically encouraging them to keep doing what I think is the completely wrong thing to do. Basically NO Americans will see the Mosconi Cup live, there is zero chance of people catching this live in a bar and pool getting any promotion from this event whatsoever on this side of the Atlantic, that sucks.

These are the types of things taking place that draw the game away from America and build the sport in areas like Europe and Asia. It is this type of stuff that is causing the death of pool on this continent, and then the Europeans have a tournament where they send 5 European pros to drill the USA and prove how well they are taking the sport over by promoting the growth of the sport in Europe while the sport in America continues to die.

Rebroadcasting content that you don't own or have permission to do is illegal. Technically watching content that is illegally broadcast is illegal since you are downloading the content to your computer.

I personally feel that rebroadcasting a program which is funded through advertising at the time of it broadcast is not immoral. To me that is only shifting access and allowing the advertisers to get more eyeballs.

Rebroadcasting a ppv is straight up stealing. Recording a public broadcast and putting it on loop is stealing.

Which is what the Mosconi Cup feeds from last year were. We watched all of the same commercials. The Mosconi Cup is NOT a PPV, it is meant for TV and is simply having a PPV option tacked on for people in countries unlucky enough not to have a live TV broadcast.

Actually there is a ppv feed. So you can buy that one and get the official feed which hopefully comes with good quality and no commercials or get the rebroadcast and be at the mercy of the rebroadcaster's whim and quality.

I am going to buy the feed and see what happens.

Well since it is live and made for TV there will at least be "commercial breaks". You might get lucky enough to not actually watch the commercials (I doubt it, what you are buying will probably BE the TV broadcast, commercials and all) and instead get to listen to the announcers while there is a break in the action. But there HAS to be breaks in the action either way for the commercials to be fit into those moments of non-action. There are times in the Mosconi Cup where they pause the action between games and the players have to wait until they resume their play, and you will be seeing that at the very least, and will more likely be watching ads for Volkswagons at that time instead of the goings on in the arena during that break.

Thank you. I will watch on the net. I have my laptop hooked to a 60" plasma TV and most streams are great.

Pretty close to my views, Celtic. I, too, will spend my money on TAR 23, where it will do more good for our sport in America.

Well then let's put it this way. I am going to pay $15 for the official live stream of the event. The reason I am going to do this is because I hope that they will be streaming FROM the event with appropriate bandwidth considerations. I hope to get a clear and perfect stream and not be dependent on the often sketchy feed from the rebroadcasters such as the ones who use peer-to-peer networks often deliver.

I don't care if you watch it through a rebroadcaster, I am not passing judgement. You are though. Why would you think for a second that Matchroom has not tried and does not continue to try to sell some network in the USA on airing the live broadcast? It should be a no brainer for ESPN or some other network. But we all know that it's never that easy. And in fact when Matchroom sells it to SkyTV in Europe they already have a different relationship with the European broadcasters due to the boxing and snooker matches they produce. They have no such relationship with ESPN America or any other American channel.

So Matchroom is doing what they can to bring the match "officially" to those who can't watch because they don't have access physically to the television broadcast.

I choose to reward that with my money and my principle. While I would certainly watch it on the P2P network if not otherwise available since it is available then I choose to spend the money on the official broadcast.

Regarding commercials I doubt I will be seeing commercials. Every broadcaster puts in their own commercials. But if I do then I do. No big deal. If the stream sucks or is in any way bothersome then I just won't spend any more money on it in the future. By now Matchroom certainly should understand streaming and have made provisions for a quality one.

FWIW I don't allow any P2P TV services on my computer. Since I kicked them off my computer has been virus free and runs great. Of course that's just me but I have never had good luck with the software they provide and there seems to be some correlation with putting them on my box and my box crashing hard shortly afterward. So after having had this happen several times I have developed a superstition and don't put any of it on my computer. If the stream happens in a web-based player using stock flash/html5 plug-ins then fine but I am not putting any of the p2p on my box anymore. Which is another reason why I personally don't trust the sketchy rebroadcast feeds. Who knows what they are delivering to me along with the feed???

At least I feel safer going with official broadcasters or feeds from official stations and original sources.

Lastly, it IS about the money. No matter how you look at it running a feed costs money even if it's just someone's time to sit there and make sure it's up and running. You get to see the rebroadcasts because SOMEONE is kind enough to set the box up to show you what's coming through their TV. For $15 you get someone dedicated to making sure the feed is working right all the time and able to handle all the traffic.

And if it's unofficially re-broadcast through Ustream then Matchroom or Sky or Livestream can request that Ustream bar the stream at any time and Ustream is likely to comply. For $15 I don't have to worry about my access disappearing, barring the usual internet maladies that is.

$15 for 4 days of a once a year event...come on guys. Pay the $15. Johnnyt

Exactly. Even if you can't watch a single rack of the event, donate the $15. If you don't then you will be persecuted and your account will be locked in a "DIS IZ WUTS WRONG WIT POOL" thread.

Seriously...this is a super deal!
