Watching Fresh Prince of Bel Air where Will Smith goes into a Pool hall and gets hustled and loses all his money . His Dad comes in and sees what is going on and gets on the table ... Just so happens he use to play alot and some how gets into the game without missing a stroke even though it has been years since he played and wins back all of Will's money. At the end of the show when they get home Will is thanking his dad for winning his money back. Will's dad tells him he don't want him going into places like that because he knows what goes on in there and he don't want to see him get killed...

The ending kind of shocked me it is no wonder we have such a hard time getting people to get into and love this game we all love so much ... I hated seeing a episode like this on a show that use to be so popular. It could of been done alot different to either promote the game or at least not slam it as much.

You were watching the Fresh Prince????

JK :D

Is it much different than TCOM, or Shooting Gallery, or Poolhall Junkies, or even the Hustler???? None of them really show pool in the best of light....

Just my two cents amigo....

Bobby Brady

Remember that Brady Bunch episode when the Bradys got a Pool Table, and Bobby turned into a hustler. I think there was even a dream sequence!

I saw the fresh prince too. Even though hes supposed to be in some upper class Bel Air neighborhood the pool hall is still seedy and full of lowlifes. It doesnt make sense. Pool always gets a bad rap

Hey brother, have you looked in the mirror lately?... we're definitely not in the upper crust of society, you know. :slap:

Family Matters had an almost exact episode. Eddie and Steve get hustled and the old grandma bails them out.

I think there was also an episode of Family Matters where the mom did 5 railer to sink the 8-ball when the son go into trouble... or something like that.

TV and Pool

Check the dick van dyke show on Hulu.com for some old time tv and pool huslting.

Yep, Season 2, Episode 12, "Fast Eddie Winslow":

Part 1
Part 2

"Fast Eddie", of course, is a nod to "The Hustler". His last name is sorta appropriate too, since his last name is "Win Slow" (get it?) :p

I always loved the Honeymooners episode where Norton makes ralph miscue on the shot that would set the new high run for that poolroom. It cracks me up that the house high run was 17 balls.
