Watching mr. 400 trying to break the record

You thought you were wrong but you were mistaken. Mitch

Sounds like channeling Pacino

Lou...One that you didn't mention, is learning how a table plays with clean vs dirty cloth, and clean balls vs dirty balls. Also, the difference in how balls and tables play with perfect A/C vs high humidity. These are things that we're teaching to quite a few players these days, and not things that many players consider! Without a doubt, the quicker a player can adjust to the playing conditions, the greater advantage they will have in competition... even if their opponent is better than they are!

Still, in the end, it's a shame that you feel like you have to "label" some lesser skilled players as "wannabes" Everybody has to start somewhere. We try to positively encourage all players to be the best they can be!...no negative connotations or insulting labeling.

oh, no kidding.

Adjusting to conditions is a skill unto itself and one that a pro player will acquire more so than the wannabe. IOWs, if you're exposed to a wider variety of cloth, balls, pockets, cushions, lights, etc you should be able to call up a better response than those that are seeing it for the first or an infrequent time.

High runs were 384 first day and 390ish a few days ago?

When will JS quit trying?

Why quit when he hasn’t beaten the record or reached the end date? It’s been generating interest, good and bad, and people have been showing up to watch. It’s not as if he said “I got this, no prob” and now he’s just making an azz of himself. He’s trying as advertised.

He was scheduled to be at Bull Shooters through 4/18. Whether that is still the plan, I do not know.

Right, Scott, that's also true.

One last one is playing on tables with itty bitty pockets. In my travels I have come across a few tables like that setup for 1pocket. It changes the game enough that you have to use a different strategy of you are a dead duck.

I believe brand new spanking cloth is most conducive to high run attempts. I know a couple of locals who ran 150 range (their high), the day the cloth was installed. IMO:)

I remember when the new cloth came each year at the rec center. The balls racked tight and we could draw the cue ball.

John did shoot some on Sunday and was on an unfinished run of 210 when he had to leave. The balls were marked and the run will resume Monday around noon AZ time, which is to say an hour from now.

Won't that overnight break put an asterisk on the run?

They used to do that in the old challenge matches to 1,000.
....i don’t see any difference, one minute, one day....
...as long as the balls are positioned properly.

‘Course, if he used the spare time to reread Mastering Pool by George Fels....
...it might not be considered kosher.....

You have a point. Let's play devil's advocate- Say he makes more than 526, the video will not be 1 long continuous one in real time. It will be 2 videos joined together. How do you prove the 2 videos are of same run? Maybe they should have left the camera running until the next day or have some TV news with time/date on in the background. :grin-square: They can put time and date on the video but skeptics would say that can be edited.
Just saying

378 and on a good break shot

A great shot at 380 from inside a head pocket

John gets a great roll -- the cue ball bounces off the side pocket corner coming in at 45 degrees and moves a ball that was frozen near the pocket.

392 -- nice thin break shot on the side of the rack, the kind Irving liked.

You can train a camera on the table to monitor for interference. In the final edited video, simply speed up this section.
