Watching mr. 400 trying to break the record

At 407 after a nice break.
At 412 he move a ball into break position. Should be an easy end.
Now breaking at 420. A standard side-of-the-rack shot but the cue ball is up near the side pockets.

About a 45-degree break shot. Time to wipe the cue down with alcohol.

He plays it with follow and gets one of those deadly kisses on the foot rail but it kicks him to the middle of the pack. Obstructed a little.... Should be OK now. There is a little work to do in the rack area. A precise two-rail position shot lets him see a shot that opens everything up. 434 (again) looks easy now.

He has a stretch for a spinner key shot at 433 but makes it nicely.

Uncharted territory now!

He is nearly straight up the table from the key ball. Stunning? He follows forward but doesn't reach the end rail. Again he has a cluster of 5-6 balls in the rack to deal with but lots of loose ones to do it with.

With three balls gone, he breaks apart the remaining cluster. No good break shot yet. Nice end pattern to a high break shot. He should be able to hit the nearer head ball full. Shooting from the end rail.

Breaking at 448....

He draws to the end rail. He's not frozen, but it's about the hardest near-straight shot you could have. A miss.

Oh, well. 450. I think it's time to go home.

(Edit -- the corner ball opposite to the side of the break went straight into the corner pocket for ball 450. If only it had hung up.)

That was a great run. John is close and there is no one in the world right now that is better at straight pool. Be Proud John
