We Lost John Disque

If it's a mystery why someone is banned, all you have to do is find a recent post
by them, click their username, then go to the statistics tab and click
"find all posts by [username]... usually you'll find the post(s) that crossed the line,
within the past dozen or so. And usually you'll find Mr. Wilson's post somewhere in that thread.

My guess is it's when he got successfully baited by the user called "Poolchump"
and said "I'm getting sick of this PoolChump dipshit", it could also be the one where he talks about
how the haters and trolls and spazzes and maggots all come after him.

I think the refusal to stop "shouting" (i.e. all the bold, caps, oversized, colored fonts) certainly contributed.

I read most of his posts as he wrote them. I also read a lot of the responses. I fail to see how what he wrote crossed a line while many other posters are able to call him out, start threads about him, call him names etc. To be clear I am not in any way looking for the banning of anyone else.

I am simply trying to understand why he gets the boot. Is it simply the word dipshit? Because much worse was said about him even being in more "polite" terms. The insults were much worse. Not to mention there were more than a few users baiting him into it.

Just new here and trying to understand where the lines are on things. My suspicion was that he was simply causing too many issues for the mods, while others are probably already on ignore and so they don't get reported as much, despite being IMHO more of a cancer than he was (again, thats just my opinion though). With out any description of why he get reprimanded though we won't know.

This is largely down to Wilson who is not very consistent. But to be fair, if I were a mod, I wouldn't be either. It's also a "tone" thing, not some clearcut black and white rule where breaking it = ban, and not breaking it = safe.

What I saw was -

The namecalling wasn't that offensive, but there was a lot of it. He was constantly throwing around terms like troll, loser, etc. The more frequently you skirt the line, the more you draw negative attention. A guy who's polite 99% of the time and say something horrible one time, probably will get away with it. A guy who's mildly rude 50% of the time will eventually get nuked.

The use of gigantic and obnoxious text suggests an ego problem, like he thinks his opinions are more important so they should be highlighted and more prominent than everyone else's. And when people call him out on it, he refused to stop which is kind of passive aggressive. Nobody likes that kind of arrogance.

He said stuff before along the lines of "I am what I am and I don't give a shit if anyone likes it or not" which is begging for some serious "social correction".

Finally, apparently Wilson noticed a discrepancy between his claimed location, and his actual location, he said he was in Philly I guess at some point, but (apparently) his IP said central Tennessee. I guess this lie bothered him.

Which imo is the least of his offenses, but for me, the obnoxious font alone should have received a warning and eventually a ban if he didn't knock it off.

^^^^^^ this right here is part of the problem

Said he grew up in Philly and drove through a while back, he did not say he lived there. And I believe he said he lived in Tennessee, he didnt lie about any of that.

Interesting time for you to arrive.

50/50 you are another poo chump id.

Don't agree with first bit. Fully agree with second paragraph.

I get your point. I know modding a forum is hard work, and it isn't a black and white thing. I also don't know if he was warned in private messages etc. The fonts were obnoxious I agree. He certainly didn't start off on the right foot, but others threw quite a few insults at him as well. Some rather mean spirited and personal.

Like Jason points out below, he actually didn't say he lived in Philly, and actually he said he lived in Tenn. In fact the first thread I think he was talking to someone about meeting up for a game who asked who he was, and he played with their dad or something.

Regardless it isn't up to me, it is more curiosity and learning the ropes around here. Not trying to make waves. I kinda enjoyed the entertainment the guy provided more than some of the other trolling posters here.

I am used to other forums where if someone gets the hammer a mod usually posts some reasons for posterity. I suppose I will live if y'all do things differently.

Ha, I was kind of waiting for this accusation considering you thought the subject of this thread was too (edit: may not have been you, too lazy to go back and look, but I think a few said it and had me wondering who his alts were). I definitely am not, and actually would prefer that dude got the boot rather than Disque.

If you'd like some sort of proof via PM just let me know. I have just the one account and like it here is rather not have people thinking that.

IKR I know right!

Oftentimes the thread that leads to banning is deleted. Sometimes there are "words", threats etc. made in PM's behind the scenes that lead to a banning. I'm sure JD had a few interesting PM's.

I don't know who issued the ban, but just to point out that Mr. Wilson is not the only one who issues bans. He gets blamed a lot but it's not always his move.

Personally I didn't read anything John wrote that was ban worthy. I would like to see a "ban thread" where the mods mention that so and so was banned, for what reason and for what duration.

I agree with your statement

While I agree, it would be "nice" to know why each poster gets banned, it would just lead to more "discussion" about how unfair the moderators are and how their justification is biased. If I was a moderator, I wouldn't justify my position for each individual ban. It would just lead to me responding to everyone who had their own bias or perspective.

Wilson bans everyone in npr, though - anyone who isn't to the right of Genghis Khan had better watch out. He even started a thread there the other day asking for comments about an issue, and banned banks for stating his. Baiting and entrapment. That's a member of 10 years banned for nothing.

This will get me banned but who cares, it desperately needs saying: Wilson is an embarrassment to AZB and a stain on the conscience of American pool. He needs to go.
