Weight needed for C-player against pro

Whats a C player?

To me a C player can throw 3 balls out on a big table with ball in hand, runs out maybe 70% of the time.
Add a 4th ball and it drops to 50-60%.

That type of player, who sucks at safes, combos and strategyshould not beat a top pro with the game described. Giving the breaks means nothing if the odds of the player running out to the 5 is under 20%. People give the breaks and BIH to those who cant win with it.

If you are a true C I can spot you break, ball in hand and the 6 or 7 out. Im a AA, preshortstop level player.

If I play a top pro at my level I would negotiate games on the wire and the break if I can get it. Getting the 7 and or 8 doesnt mean much because I run 3 open balls over 85% if thet are open and I am in line on the 7. Im not going to ride a.money ball unless I have BIH or its dead.

You need practice to improve, not ridiculous spots. Chances are however, the practice may not be so much on the table as it may be in your head. Focus, concentration, touch, imagination, creativity all of which, IMO, come much more slowly in 9 ball than in some other games.

So ... while you're pounding the rails trying to sink your spot, you're loosing valuable improvement time.

THIS

I used to play a friend of mine that was easily an A- player, and at the time I MIGHT have been a C- player, and he game me every spot under the sun... and I never got better until... I stopped asking for weight, and asked for adjustment on the money.
We started playing EVEN at my $10 to his $30 and within a month I had improved atleast a ball better if not 2... I was still get DESTROYED, but he wasn't doing it while taking a nap like he had been.

I've seen him play several times in person, a lot on the internet and I think he has the world fooled. I would say he's a B/B+ish depending on his mix.

It's possible...I haven't seen him live to gauge the game...just kind of a bold statement so I was curious on it. Have you seen him play anything other than one pocket?

Yes, I watched him play a local open player getting the break, ball in hand 4 ball... and losing. Then 3 days later, he snaps the whole town off (even better players) with similar games.

Asking for weight is basically saying "Okay, I know I'm not better than this person and I'm too lazy to practice and improve enough to play even with him, so let me make the game totally unfair in my favor". Just try to get better instead of asking for them to give up the world, I mean then what's the point of even playing the game?

Areas have different standards, in my area...

A C player should beat the 4 ball ghost half the time. A B player should beat the 6 ball ghost half the time.

To make a fair game for gambling... Thought that was obvious?

Sweet! I'm an A B player!!!!

I thought I was a D...

LOL!

I recently had a discussion w/ a pro about what kind of weight I would need. I used to be a mid-B, but I only play maybe once every few months now and that is after a layoff of nearly ten years. I would say I'm probably a C of some sort now. I said to him, "I wouldn't play you even if you gave me the wild 5-and-out, all the breaks, ball-in-hand after the break and the wild balls count on the break." He said he couldn't give me that kind of weight. I said, "Bullshit!" for 2 main reasons:

1) I assume he thought I was stupid.
2) SVB beat Scooter w/ wild 6 and out, and all the breaks and I am not an A-player.

I think I would need something along the lines of:

Wild 5-and-out
All breaks
B-in-hand after breaks
Wilds count on break
He has to bank the 9 to win

I realize that sounds ridiculous, but if I made even one mistake, he runs out and I start crying.

What do you all think a typical C would need?
I would take out Wilds counting on the break. With all snaps and ball in hand after the break, 5 money balls and them banking the 9, you should be able to win.

The truth is...

There is no weight that is reasonable that you can get to make a fair game.

For anyone to win against a pro, they need a game that they can get out with 90+% of the time. The sad truth is that players below B+,A- are just too inconsistent for a game like that to exist that is also not a lock up nuts game for them.

IOW any game that you can get against someone at that level is gonna be you trying to outrun the nuts.

Is this a fairly agreed on assessment of a C and B player everywhere? I play 95% 8b and might try this race against the ghost. Do I break with 6 balls or just throw it out randomly. Then I can say I'm a east coast B player.

why not make him shoot left handed too ? I mean, if you are gonna rob someone, you might as well go for the gold :)

Just the wild five and out with the breaks.

I wouldn't have to do anything but break with the wild five and out with the balls counting on the break to win 40-50% of every game I play....

I don't know about that... the hand span is brutal action... there is never a cluster that cant be handled easily, the only safe is to leave them rail to rail, and they always get the correct angle.

yeah, thus why I was being sarcastic about shooting left handed

If a teacher gives me a test of 100 questions and then gives me 85 answers out of 100, there's no way I can fail, but did I "really" pass? And do you feel smarter or dumber afterwards knowing you wouldn't have passed unless given the answers? Weight is stupid. Just practice and play people your own speed or a little better.

I recently played a regular player at my pool hall who is an A, I had always played him giving me weight and this time I said no its okay, I INSTANTLY went into the match with MORE confidence and felt better about myself and my game. I got beaten of course but it didn't change my mentality.

Maybe I don't make enough at my job to understand..
