Well... it's time to embark on a new chapter in my life!

Greg:

CONGRATULATIONS on landing a job in a sport (game, hobby, whatever you want to call it) that you love!

Having worked in high technology for the better part of 30 years, I've always worked for the "corporate side" -- i.e. Department of Defense, banks, insurance companies, legal firms, CAD/CAM firms, etc. Though it pays the bills, it doesn't fulfill my pool side. I'm actually envious of your situation. :o One of these days, I too hope to have landed an employment opportunity associated with billiards/pool.

CSI has certainly gained an asset in you. Take care in your move, arrive safely, and I hope you settle-in quickly. If you *ever* need any assistance with setting up networks, firewalls, shoring-up security, optimizing network performance, doing forensics, please don't hesitate to call upon me!

Enjoy it, for life only has a set amount of opportunities it offers, and one needs to capitalize on them.

Best regards,
-Sean

thanks for all the replies and good wishes. It's nice to have support from my fellow pool fanatics here:)

I didn't get on the road until about midnight on Wed. I am very limited on what I can lift and carry, so I knew that moving all my junk from Point A to point B was going to take a long time and was going to hurt like hell. So I ask a couple of guys from the pool hall if they could help me move a mattress and boxspring and a chair. I was only 5 blocks from the pool hall and it would have took 5 mins. They said ok. So Wed I go over there and I'm getting all this I don't want to do it.. what will you give me for doing it and all that crap. I thought they would actually help me, but when they go over there, the whining continued, so I just said "forget it.. you guys don't want to help me, so just leave. And they did.. laughing about it. I mean C'mon, we're talking helping someone that would take 5 mins of your time. Boy, I'm telling you, I don't know how some people live with themselves.

So I ended up doing it all myself and am paying the price bigtime. Can hardly walk and my entire body is screaming at me, telling me what a idiot I am. A fall down a flight of stairs didn't help either.:embarrassed2: Very weird that I own absolutely nothing, but somehow managed to fill up every square inch of a 5x8 trailer and my car.:) My car azz is dragging.. hehe.. Poor thing.

Drove to my Mom's and got there about 4:00 am. fell asleep right away and left about 2:00 pm Thursday. Drove to Denver and got there late. Somehow managed to get stuck in standstill traffic on I25 just south of Denver. One of those traffic jams that suddenly start up again and you have no clue why you were stopped for 45 mins on a Interstate in the first place.

I'll get on the road again about 11:00 am this morning and plan on going down 25 to Albuquerque (had to look at map on how to spell that). My buddy SJD reminded me that I need to figure out what route to take, since it's winter and we're talking about going over the Rocky Mountains. I completely didn't even think about that and had planned on taking I80 to I70 to I-15 and be done with it. He reminded me that highways could be closed, they could require me to have chains on my car and pulling a full trailer in a car with very steep inclines could tear it to hell quick.

So I needed to alter my route. He said it would be best to go all the way down to I-10 if I could, but that is a good bit of way out of the way. I think I will gamble and take I-25 down to Albuquerque and maybe take I-40 across Arizona. I think the weather might be ok... but I have no idea what to expect on the hills., Anyone made a trip that involved taking I-40 across AZ? Is there a ton of up and down hills and steep inclines? Does anyone have a better route they would suggest?

Here's a pic of me taking I-40 and also showing I-10 below it that bypasses the Rocky Mountains.

It's putting quite a strain on the old car, hauling this trailer. It is pulling hard, so the thought of trying to climb some huge mountain all day, scares me to death. Decisions, decisions:) If you got any ideas, post them quick, as I will check in before I get on I-40.

I'm getting about 14 mpg, so it's killing me to fill up the tank (50-60 bucks) and drive 50 miles and see it's already down to 3/4 a tank. Brutal. I can only imagine what my mpg would be if I spent all day climbing mountains.

here's to a stress free day today.

Hopefully I can get some cool pictures today. Too much driving in the dark, leads to empty camera media cards. Today I want to make up some good time and have a great day!

Thanks again all of you! I'll give you another update later!

EDIT: Oh, I forgot... I got to see a couple of places I always enjoyed going to when I lived in the South. Waffle House and Jack in the Box.:D
I'm going to do that scattered, smothered, covered and something else in a few.

Oh.. and Super 8.. sorry for Al Bundyizing your toliet

New beginnings are always exciting, with a lil bit of trepidation.

Good luck with your new direction in life.

I lived in Albuquerque in the Army and still can't spell it.

Your adventure already has stories to tell. Be safe. Keep us posted.

Take care

Congrats, it's about time you get a good role. You deserve it, you have done alot for many people. Enjoy and hope to meet in person sometime it the future. Oh and enjoy the weather.

Cali,

Best of luck in your new job and residence. Will you be working from the Pabco Street address? If so, I'll be by on February 15th. Always stop by the CSI office whenever I get into town. Usually visit with Bill S, Mark G, Mark E and Dave V for a few minutes. Good group of people. If you are looking for a BCAPL league to play in, contact Greg Kuhl at The Cue Club. He has Tuesday night bar box 8 ball and Monday night "big" table leagues. Great $8 all day rates as well! Welcome to Vegas.

If you do go Interstate Route 40, In New Mexico if the speed limit is 75, they mean it. A friend got a speeding ticket at 79!

Congrats CaliRed, CSI and TAR will definately benefit from getting you into the ranks and thus so will the sport as a whole.

CR,
I drove a small 4 cylinder car pulling a trailer on that route years ago. It isn't so much the inclines, but the wind. Pulling a trailer watch out for the crosswinds, it can get pretty strong, you want to pay attention.

Cali....not so sure I like you going via Flagstaff...it's way up there.
Went from Flagstaff to Phoenix once in August....
....it was 40 degrees in Flagstaff and 106 in Phoenix.

be safe

Hey Cali Red, make sure you be careful on the big Road!

Congrats are in order for you too. Good luck to you.
Many Regards,
Lock n load.

I told you not to long ago ,in 1 of my posts, that you would be a great addition to work with pool in some form or another, with all your expertise at what u do and can do,so now the time has come CALI,i wish u the best and be careful and safe, since u been here u made lots of friends, cause u gave us so much for free, well its about time u get paid for all ur hard work!

Hey Greg,

Hope you made it there ok and good luck in Sin City.

Thanks! I'm glad I won't ever have to deal with Dave and Dogman again. I've never met anyone in my life, where I've known someone for several years, and they couldn't even lift a lousy finger to help someone move 2 or 3 items down some stairs. Thanks to their refusal to help me for 5 mins, I now have seriously screwed up my shoulder and have been in intense pain since I've been here because I had to do it myself. I don't get medical insurance for 3 months, so I'm stuck with it.

You on the other hand, are one of the cool guys. Thanks again, and I'll give you some updates now and then. Shoot me a PM with your email address.

Thanks for your interest pt109 and richie.

I did make it here safely after my scare in Flagstaff AZ. Got here on a Sunday and went right to work on Monday. Got to find a place to live now.

CSI has a great bunch of people working for them and I"m glad I am a part of their team now. I have a lot to learn about leagues, so I can support their excellent League software. This company is continually trying to find ways to make pool better, so I am honored I can work with them to try and find ways to do that.

I really need to get a place to live before I can truly settle down a bit. I'm staying with a employee right now, but only for a week and that week is up, so got to haul all my crap back down to my car again:) Once I get a place, then I can get my stuff set up and can actually get to doing some things.

I have went to a few pool halls around here and table time is cheap.. in the 5 buck range a hour. I hear the tables are .25 or .50 too for by the game. Visited the Cue Club, where all the infamous pool matches take place... that is like a older type of pool hall, my kinda place:)

Weather is great... no more zero degree weather for me. Cool to see mountains again. haven't seen them since my days in Seattle.

I'll whip up some stuff later.. with some pics and video to go along with it, once I find a place to live and can setup my PC again.

Very glad to get out of Nebraska. Hated my work there, and nothing but bad things happened there for me, so look forward to starting with a fresh slate here.

I love pool and now I get to work in it. How cool is that:D

Later for now.,., I'll be back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
