We're Gonna Have An Earl vs Bartram Matchup

Game 9

Chris makes 1-ball, makes two balls past the side pocket. Confusing rule since one ball actually hit the high side point and bounces back. Does that constitute "past the side pockets"?

Earl gets back to another tricky layout and gets out.

5-4 Chris

Game 10

Earl with a cotton break - very dry.

Chris ducks. Earl kicks safely. Chris ducks, but looks like a tough sellout kick for Earl.

BIH - Bartram has to try to break open balls that are clustered and misses the 3-ball, but plays it two ways. Earl forces to kick and leaves Chris vet tough. Sells out to a not-so-wide open rack.

Earl gets stuck on the 5-ball and ducks, leaving no real shot.

Chris ducks and leaves Earl long and straight and 3/4 of a pocket. Earl drains it without fanfare.

5-5

Game 11

Earl - two balls on the break. Push

Chris comes with a tester, but get brutally hooked on the deuce. Kicks and leaves an easy safety. Earl ducks and leaves paint. Lots of paint apparently.

Chris makes the two, and he runs out to regain the lead.

6-5 Chris

Game 12

Chris breaks - dry. No shot.

Earl plays safe but leaves long, thin shot on the 1-ball.

Chris makes the 1-ball! Still a very tricky road, but Bartram gets there... but dogs the 9-ball! Ouch!!!

6-6

Game 13

Earl dry break and leaves shot on 1-ball.

Chris easily runs out after great shot on the 1-ball to the 2-ball.

7-6 Chris

Game 14

Chris breaks dry. Doesn't leave a shot much to Earl's vocal displeasure.

Safety by a Earl. Chris misses the kick in the 1-ball.

Earl with BIH - gets out very comfortably.

7-7

At this point, both are playing well. Chris has given up two games.

Both have very long cues.

Game 15

Earl makes a ball and gets almost straight in on the 1-ball. Makes the 1, but he hit it thick or there was a skid. Earl came up funny. Earl ,being Earl, makes the tough shot and gets out.

8-7 Earl with the lead

I wish this match would have been streamed. Sounds like a much better match than the lopsided match we just saw. (Bustamante vs Hohmann)

Game 16

Earl - three balls on the break, but cueball on the head rail. Push to a long 2-ball look.

Meanwhile, Busty beats Toasty

Back at this match, Chris drills the tough 2-ball and gets to the 4-ball. Plays safe.

Earl misses a makeable 4-ball but leaves very tough, thin cut.

Safety by Chris, but leaves a straight back into a hanging 5-ball.

Earl misses the hanger bank combo.

Chris doesn't get out after getting tough position after the hanging 5-ball. Safety on the 8-ball.

Earl shoots at the 8-ball and hangs it.

Chris inexplicably misses the hanging 8-ball. Getting hot in here?

Earl banks the 8-ball, then drains the tuff 9-ball!

9-7 Earl

Game 17

Earl breaks dry and hangs the 9-ball in a head corner pocket.

Chris plays safe, but leaves the 9-ball still hanging

Earl misses the 1-ball and leaves a shot.

Chris makes one and gets hooked! 9-ball is just sitting there! Jump shot hits the two and takes out the 9-ball instead of knocking it in!!

Nothing easy for Earl. Safety on the 5-ball.

Chris kicks but scratches!

BIH for a Earl - and gets out

10-7. Earl on the hill

Game 18

Earl breaks a ball in and plays to a jail safe on the three ball behind a hanging 9-ball.

Chris misses the 3-ball, leaving a 3-9 hanging combo. Earl finishes the easy BIH combo for the win!

11-7 - The Mighty Earl moves on!

Question: Why is there close to one and a half hours between the Bustamante match and the Efren match? Is this really necessary? How late will the 10:30 stream match go? This event has remained on schedule to this point, but now it's falling apart.

What happened?

Not surprised by the end result. I know bartram has a lot of fans on here, and he's certainly a fighter, nbut not a true contender.

Busty/Hohmann ended at 8:03 local time. Next match was scheduled for 8:30, so they always wait at least until then. But the "8:30" match each evening is preceded by the Barry/Alana/etc. show. So it was 9:05 when Orcollo/Reyes finally started.
