Wow, what an amazing feeling it was to win the Western BCA 9ball Masters tourney this week. My first tourney as a Masters player ended up with a win. Very unexpected since my scotch partner and I were out in two matches the day prior to the start of the singles tourneys. Having participated in several of the tourneys at Chinook Winds Casino, and watched the finals of the Masters divisions before it was a little strange to be the center of attention instead of watching it myself. I fed off the spectators, friends and teammates to play near error free my final two matches.
I started off strong and only got stronger as I worked my way through the bracket. Of course with an alternating break format you have to win your games but also get timely help from your opponent. I took advantage of peoples mistakes and limited my own. Winning my matches at 9-2, 9-6, 9-3, 9-3, 9-7, 9-1, 9-4. The final was versus Todd Marsh who lost his first match and then stormed though the losers bracket the whole way to face me, taking out Glenn Atwell and Pat Schumacher along the way.
My team also finished 2nd to Glenn Atwells team from Classics Billiards. It was a nice profitable weekend for sure. Time to take a few weeks off from pool though and get my cue refinished finally.
I want to thank Andrew "sharandrew" Monstis and the rest of the Western BCA staff for running a great tourney.
