Thanks for the info. I'll admit I don't follow the juniors and didn't even know that the European Championships had junior events. Still, her play, which I saw live a few times when she was a teen, was not women's world class until she was about 18 or 19.

You cannot justify your comments by stating that they were the mildest you could have said.

Please, please, learn to take the high road and teach that talented young girl to do the same.
 
Can someone fill me in on what the girl/mother did wrong? Did one of them go off on the guy sometime after the match?

From what I remember at the end of the video, Savannah refused to shake hands with the guy for taking control of the table after she didn't call an obvious combination. Two grown-ups (presumably her parents) berated the guy and said things like "I hope you lose every match you ever play" and "I hope your tip falls off"...

Got it. Thanks! I did miss that part, although wishing the guy's tip falls off is kinda funny.
 
maybe she meant another tip. she doesnt sound like a nice person at all from the video.
and home schooling isnt good. they dont get the social skills they need for this world. and few will get the proper time spent as mothers dont put in 6 or 8 hours a day with their kid home schooling. along with few parents being qualified to teach.

My kids are both home schooled. Nowadays, there are endless groups that the kids can participate in. They do a couple hours of dedicated computer work, then it's field trips and group dates. The kids are only going to lack social interaction if their parents are lazy.

Different. I'm sure there are pros and cons.

Get the formal school work in so you can go to college/ vocational school in the future if you choose.

Try to find some social activities with kids her age.

Not a big deal if managed well.

Do we know for certain that this is accurate? I thought I heard her say, “I only shake hands.” But I wasn’t sure what that was in response to. He may have been going in for a hug.

Glad you are giving your kids the best chance at success.

Savannah is more socialized than most on this forum.
Perhaps she could spend more time with other kids but you can bet her education is better than if she was attending public schools.

I was thinking from what I heard on the video (they were both out of sight of the camera) that is indeed what most likely happened.

I thought I heard her say "I don't shake hands with..." and also thought you could hear the father say "You don't have to shake hands..."

Thanks! My favorite part about homeschooling is that my kids don't know what level they should be at. They are both about 2-3 years ahead 2for their age group right now and don't have a clue:). I'm hoping they both get a bachelor's degree by the time they hit 20. To be clear, I couldn't care less if they go to college or trade schools, but scholarships they are approved for could get them free college.

Yes, my take too. What I remember hearing is her saying "I only shake hands [ with people I respect ]", the last part was hard to get.
