What are the value of Lee Peppers cues?

Lee Peppers Brunswick Balke Collender Conversion
retail was and still is: $350.00 - $375.00 (without custom jp's).
how the photo got into my jpeg library, i'm not sure.

Ya know, you just might be onto to something here. I believe that there would be some pretty twisty things that would come off of that. Night mares, dreams that would accompany the cue and maybe the owner would be compelled to commit more crimes. The cue would go from owner to owner.

Who ever owned the cue would win some serious money games but it would come with a price. Can you handle owning it?

The first killing will be done with a tulipwood square just to keep things realistic.

Peppers

I waited 14 months for a cue that he said would take 3. Then when I said its bad form to bullshit your customers he said I was the only one that complained. 4 times over 12 months he said he'd have it to me in a few weeks.

Seeing that you put it that way. Yes. I have a lapel pin with a swastika on it that my father brought back. Considering that it came off a dead German, it is a little creepy to take it out of its box and hold it.

That and I have a pocket knife with two blades that came the same way. The white material is kind of yellowish and wonder if its not ivory. Well made it is.

You got some cool stuff and god bless your dad.

There's no denying that he makes some great cues.

At least he can hold his head up high and know that he made some great pieces.

We're talking about the cue maker and not the businessman.

Tulipwood. And Ironically, the first murder will take place in Holland.

The species of wood can reflect the area of where it originated and of course, the murders.

That will keep the detectives running all over. That is until they can figure out what the next species of wood is going to used and where it came from.

The value of mine is minus $300.00. That is my lost deposit on the Tad Tribute that will never be delivered. I thought Lee had the best eye for an old school cue that we have seen in a long time.

I feel very bad that he has had serious health problems. I would gladly have sent him $300 to help him out....but when he promised a cue I took him at his word. Would I by one in the future? Sure, why not, they look great.

Since he's no longer making cues, I was wondering if the value would go up? He has made some beautiful pieces and it's a shame he no longer build cues. A man of his talent should share his work with the world. It sucks that he cannot do this anymore.

Do you think they are going to appreciate?

Also, lets post pics of some nice cues of his. Not my cue or picture but this thing is a beauty.

That is my beauty. Plays as well as it looks.

(Future) value

Sad to say that the cue-maker's actions, or reputation (past or current) will NOT determine (the future) value of cues. It won't be a large collector, nor 1 individual buyer.

THE MARKET always decides future value.
( I gotta feeling this is gonna go the same way Dale Perry cues have gone)

If you like the cue(s), then hold on to them.

Dale Perry dropped his quality and started blowing out cues cheap on Ebay, but at least he didn't rip people off and get compared to Hitler.
Not to mention that Dale Perry cues are 1 of 1 and you get an LOA with every cue>>

Sorry Terry, already been done (albeit about a musical instrument, not a cue). If you get a chance (if you've not seen it yet), rent The Red Violin:

-Sean <-- ponders the Canucks who think up this stuff :p

Possible future use as a burial scepter, like the DPs :)

I've always felt that when my favorite cuemaker starts getting compared to Hitler, it may be time to try something else, even if it plays real good.
This inspires me to write a movie about a serial killer cuemaker who kills his victims with blocks of exotic hardwoods, and then turns the murder weapon into beautiful custom cues.

Hey, is that bloodwood points in that cue.
Yea... kinda...

Hmmmm....

Interesting Thread. I've been outta commission for awhile (playing a lot of pool not on the computer  )...

The last cue I picked up was a Lee Peppers that I ordered from him on here. I don't have a finished picture handy, but here's the description from Lee's Ad:

This cue has two firsts for me... this cue actually has the first four point/four veneer forearm I ever made. Kept it hanging for years and was going to build it for myself but decided not to. It also has the first propeller inlays I have put in a cue.
This cue will be finished in a few months.

Specs...
Elforyn sleeved brass joint (ended up with a 3/8 - 10 Stainless pin - FF)
Brown collars with brass rings
Curly maple forearm
Brown/light blue/light green/white veneers
Brazilian Rosewood pointwood with ivory propellers
Wrap - Leather
Brazilian Rosewood buttsleeve
Ebony wedge type point with matching veneers and ivory propeller
Short brown buttcap
(I would like to see this cue bumperless with a brass exposed weight bolt)
The cue will come with one shaft and your choice of ferrule and tip (my choice was Ivory Ferrule and Triumph Tip) .
The butt is 29.5 inches long and the shaft can be 29 - 30 inches long (went with 30")

Now to be honest... personally, the fit and finish are not the best... they are good, but could be better. Shaft had a very slight wobble right out of the box, joint end of the shaft clear was done quickly and there are some imperfections in the clear, leather wrap... I wanted smooth... I wouldn't say it is and installation could have been better. The tip wasn't installed terribly well (ended up having to have it re-done). He was about 2-3 months late on delivery.

Okay, not-picks aside..
I'm shooting the best with this of any cue I own, period.
Also, I get more comments on this old school looking cue of any of the dozen cues that I own.
The hit is definitely a love it or hate it cue, the shaft is larger diameter than I was used to and the front is cored with something... but again it's just a wow.

Will value appreciate, hard to tell... but my appreciation is increasing :-)

The DNA impregnated forearm is from the second & third victims.
A double murder involving a hapless railbird who buys cues on Ebay, and his 1-pocket buddy who complains after every shot..

I saw the unfinished forearm hanging in his shop long time ago. it had some long ass points if I recall right. 1" from where the joint would be. I wanted to buy it when it came up, but couldn't do it.
