What cues do the pros use?????

What I would like to know is. What Shaft Do They Play With. Is it the same one the cue is made for, or an alternative.

Dieckman Sayzzzzzzzzzz

Whoever gets there the firstest with the mostest, to quite a famous Cival War General.

In case you don't get that: WHO'S GOT THE MONEY HONEY ????

Or do I have to make it even simpler: they play with what they get paid to play with, NOT WHAT THEY WANT TO PLAY WITH, but they are so good that they could play with a broomstick "as long as it had a good tip on it." [Actual quote from R. Ceuleman's to me 25 years ago--I think it is still valid]

PLAY WITH WHAT FEEL GOOD IN YOUR HAND......fungoooo on anybody else, no matter how good or bad they are.

What I Find Interesting

The lack of top end cues!!! One Gina, One Scruggs, One Joss, No Mcworter, No Joss West and other top end cues are missing (No Jerry Rauenzahn...my favorite!!!). I have a Gina, Scruggs, Joss West, 3 Joss, 3 Rauenzahn and a Mcworter...guess it really is the player and not the cue!!!

I was wondering if there was a source or listing of the actual playing cues the pros use?

I know Mika is Mezz, etc.

I heard a while back on one of the World Masters show, Jim Wych said Rodney was using a Gus Szamboti.

I just think it would be cool to know what their choices are.

I don't think there is a listing out there, and if there is one I doubt it is completely accurate bceause people change cues cues like socks, especially when they are free. A cue is nothing more than a tool, and what the Pro's are using will vary as much as the Personality and taste of any group of people. Some of them use Import Cues, and some use American Made Custom Cues, however, the top players of Male and the Female tour's are given cues to play with by their sponsor's. Now if you look at this from all angles it speaks volumes, some play with Mezz Cues, Some play with Cuetec, and some play with different brands both import and American.

But in my opinion top pro's with sponsorship are not the individuals you should look at because they are paid $$$$$ to use what they use. I think you should look at the lower ranked Pro's because they are using cues that are functional for them and these cues are what these players purchased for themselves. This will give you a clear picture of what some one would use if they were not being paid to do so, and that takes the Advertising and Commercialism out of the picture.

I think in the end it is the player not the cue anyway, so the only way to find a great cue to try as many as possible. This way you will find the best cue for you!!!

JIMO hope this helps

A few years ago Shannon played with a Sigel cue then Shannon got sponsored by South East cues (as of 2003/4 at the DCC that year he was at their booth trying to sell their cues) Then after that, he had a small stint with Meucci cues...

Dave Hemmah plays with an Ariel Carmeli
Tang Hoa switches between a Kent Davis and a Tiger Cue
Ernesto Dominguez plays with a Kent Davis (previously played with a Tad forever)
Oscar Dominguez plays with an Ed Prewitt
Ismael "Morro" Paez plays with a Tad (previously McDaniel)
Bernardo "King Kong" Chavez plays with a Tad
Louie Ulrich switched back to his Southwest (no longer Lomax)
Santos Sambajon plays with a Pat Diveney (previously McDaniel and Paul Drexler)
Jose Parica plays with a Fach Garcia
Roberto Gomez plays with Schon and Predator
Efren Reyes plays with a Judd (he plays with others for endorsement reasons but he always has a Judd in his case which he normally plays with)

I looked at all of those lists.... interesting, only a couple of Vikings and Lucasis. Not one single McDermott. Schons and Predators all over the place. Makes me wonder if I should have bought that McDermott Genesis......

trying to get confirmation.........

From waht I've seen in pics, it appears that the cue Efren is currently playing with is Judd Sneaky. Anyone know for sure?

QUOTE=thegloworm;1653454]I know.......However, other than an advertiser patch, how would you even know what they are using?

A few years ago when Ga Yung Kim first came on the scene, she was using a Southwest. if I didn't know what a SW looked like, I never would have known that she was using a SW cue.

That is what I am talking about.

I thought it was a KC cue. :banghead:

So I then bought one off of EBay. :thud:[/QUOTE]

she used to use a SW and then got the KC sponsorship. tha'ts what she's using now so you made a good buy

What difference does it make ?
A cue doesn't make you play better.
Does is have a decent tip ?
Is it straight ?
Is the shaft smooth ?
Most pros are going to play just as well with a decent house cue.

I was talking to Pat Diveney at the DCC and Luat walked up and said, "I have some more for you Pat." He reached into a bag and pulled out 5 or 6 good sized chunks of amboyna burl. I'm guessing Luat will be playing a new Diveney in the near future if Pat hasn't already made him one. There are a couple of others using Pat's cues, but I'm not up on what everyone uses.

I'll have one of his cues, but not sure if it can knock my Jacoby out of it's "player" spot....like it A LOT!!!!
