my shot

very bad situation but my shot would be two rail kick top long rail to short rail and kick 5 two rails to center of other short rail for a safe. its not a lobkup safe but lowers the percentage shot for your oponent a lpng very thin cut or a long table bank or a return safe plus you might get lucky with a safe behind the seven.

Kick 2 rails to make the 5. If you miss, miss thick so that the 5 banks to the center of the bottom left rail and the cue ball goes down table. If you get lucky, you might even hook your opponent on the 10. If it clears the 10, the best place to kick would be just short of the side pocket with running english. If it doesn't clear, right after the side pocket with stun.

Kicking to hit under the 5 has a bunch of problems like losing the cue ball, possibly scratching, or not getting enough speed leaving the 5 in the center of a table. If you hit the 5 to make it, you are almost guaranteed to leave a tough shot unless it hangs.

My idea is similar, but I try to pocket the 5. Top long rail to end rail where 5 is try to make it. If you hit it a bit fat. The cue ball could end up behind the 7 while the 5 ball possibly sits behind the 10 ball.

Distract your opponent by declaring," Look at the jugs on that chick!"
and quickly moving the 7B just enough to get by it to the 5B.

This does not work in West Hollywood pool rooms. There you could try,
" Look at the package on that stud!"

At Lizard Acres I have found that yelling (Hearing aids,ya know), " Holy crap. Wouldja look at that guys granddaughter for chrissake!" works quite well.

You gotta be quick, though.

Post of the week.... Rep to you sir!

Neil youre kidding right? the 2 rail kick safe would be a higher perbentage shot.
I don't believe the topic is restricted to what you would want to shoot for the cheeses only;)

In Neil's shot's defense- with a feel for the table- it really isn't that bad a shot. In fact, one might argue that the angle of approach makes it the most likely direction to result in making that ball. Offense being the best defense and all that...

I don't know how to use Wei, hope my cutting and paste looks okay.

Two problems here is that you need to aim the que ball to hit where the pocket is. If you just hit to the inside of the point with running english, you should be able to hit the 5 ball and make it. Second problem with this shot is the 10 ball in the way?

I was taught this method from Hal Mix to bank balls into a pocket this way. I know it is in a lot of books. I play a lot of One Pocket and I modified the system to kick at balls. Once you get the hang of it you can hit either side of the ball, hymmm? Now if that darn pocket wasn't in the way no contest, Barney

This is exactly the right shot to take!! Anything else would require a ton of luck to not leave your opponent out.

Break out your jump cue and fire it in but play it thin. If you miss the ball it should still bank off the end rail and send the 5 up the table hopefully leaving a very long shot.
