I would agree,a wire transfer is safe,I have recieved them before and you maybe leary of giving him your info but there's really no risk,if the money shows up and is verified by your bank then you ship:D

I accepted a bank transfer from an AZer in Brunei. It went flawlessly.

I first demanded a check. He sent the check and told me that I would have trouble cashing it. Sure enough the bank gave me the runaround. Not to mention the 2 weeks it took for the check to arrive.

I sent him an email with my bank information and had the cash the same day. I checked with my bank beforehand and they said it was safe.

Sorry. I dun mean to go OOT but is it ethical to reveal details of a transaction between 2 parties in a public forum like this?

Maybe it is just me, but i would feel quite awkward if I were in this situation. I thought that a better way was just to ask for advice and reference of the buyer.

could that be why he cancelled the transaction?

you could have ask anyone a feedback about the buyer here and im sure the buyer is legit and honest person to deal w/ but posting the email conversation is not acceptable to me if im the buyer..just my .02 cents :)

Agreed. If it was me, I'd feel insulted. Specially if I've already had a lot of transactions on the board.

IMHO, if you want to ask in public, a better approach would have been to skip the name and figures, and just ask "is it safe to ship/ receive wire transfers from overseas?"

Absolutely. You could have asked for references without posting the e-mail correspondences and particulars. You should really edit these out now.

This person you have recieved the email from is one of the top blokes on here. There is nothing to fear from him. Why was this thread started?

I recently sold a high end collector car. It was no problem for my bank to set up a seperate account for me to handle the wire transfer. When all funds were in, I simply closed that account after moving the money into my regular account. Just another layer of security. FWIW, I agree with the other posts suggesting you leave the personal info and the amount out of your post...

Glen,
Not knowing why your deal fell threw..

I can tell you that Kam is the real deal.. I sold him a Szamboti that was a very smooth transaction.. I would recommend him as a 1st class buyer..

A reference check would have been fine..
Posting a private email would insult most of us..
Why not edit his personal info from your original post..

Best,

Are you a villiage Idiot

What was the need to post out personal details for this transaction?

Getting an opinion is fine, but not to tell everyone a buyers personal details.

I think you should edit the thread and take out the personal details.

Kam is the real deal, and is a serious high end collector. He has dealt with other good sellers like thediamond and others.

Please think carefully before listing a post like this again.

Thanks..

He decided not to buy it.

glen

thanks for the support guys...

i truly appreciate it...

to clarify:

1 the deal was not finalised . i did not agree and THEN change my mind... we were still negotiating ( shipping cost, etc )

2 glen suggested i speak to Tony of Black Boar before deciding and i did...only then did i decide not to confirm the deal .. i sent him a third email expaining this .. odd he did not post that one to complete the correspondence file ... i will not state why i have chosen not to purchase this cue as i do not wish to impede the sale of his cue to anyone else

3 i have never broken my word and i never will ... money can be recouped, your reputation never can ...

if Glen is upset, then i appologise for the misunderstanding.. though i have done nothing ethically or economically inappropriate.

i will not be responding further to this tread as magnifying this issue will be to no one's benefit.

i would appreciate it if my personal details could be deleted from the original post ... as i travel extensively, the address is my Mother's home address as she takes delivery of all my cues on my behalf ... leaving it up on a public forum is just not acceptable and is, in my opinion, in contradiction to simple civil decorum.

thanks
kam
