What do you think about Uni-loc joints?

I wasn't able to find any discussion on this. I'm thinking about buying a Predator sneaky pete, but I'm not familiar with this type of joint.

I'm not concerned about saving a few seconds in putting together my cue, is it also supposed to provide a snug fit?

Junk

there junk they always come lose from the joint couse there not anuff to grip as in threads ! and i own one if you like to keep tighting before each shot there for you =(

fine to me

i have never had any issues with them. never come loose on me. play fine

I love the joint personally, quick to assemble and to take apart. Very secure fit, very solid hit. I won't go back to a regular joint unless I just absolutely loved the cue itself. I'm a huge supporter of Predator cues, and shafts so I'm also kind of stuck.

good joint

I played with a uni-loc cue for more than a year, usually in four to six hour sessions. Also, my break stick for over three years has been a sneaky with a uni-loc.

Never experienced any loosening. Provides solid connection, firm hit.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

You just have to make sure to keep uni-loc joints clean and tighten them firmly before playing. I haven't had any trouble with my joints on my cues coming loose, both on my Lucasi and Predator cues. The only downside of the uni-loc joints is the cost of joint protectors.

Sysko raises a good point. Maybe i never experienced any problems because i always used joint protectors, so never contaminated the mating surfaces.

If you keep an eye on ebay, you should be able to find them at a reasonable price. I was fortunate enough to find a set (1 female, 2 males) for only $10.

Never had a problem with mine. They hit pretty solid, the Predator S/P is a great cue.

i think they hit a little soft but they're ok. i had mine come loose on me a cuple of times but that was over a 2 year period. just tightend it up a little and kept playing. i don't prefer it but i don't mind it either

If you had 2 cues that were already put together that looked the same but one had a Unilock and the other a pin I doubt if you could tell the difference.

As stated use a joint proctector and keep the pin clean.

My Predator sneakys are 3/8 10 thread one brass and one G 10 and Kevin Varney or any pro cue repairman can replace the uni lock pin with the 3/8 10 pin or a radial pin if you like and they do play better as far as I am concerned, KV talked me into the change and it was a very good and inexpensive conversion and if you will pay attention most custom cue makers are using the 3/8 10 or similar 3/8 11 pins and wood to wood joints for a great solid hit.--Leonard

I like them also. Been playing with one for four years. Never had one come loose while shooting. I have a Z shaft and it works well also. but I like the old 314 best.

IMO, They are Just as great as a full pin. They are a snap to assamble and Mine holds Forever! I Love it, I think It is an awesome thing, Remember, My Opinion.

Hello MotteyFan,

I had the same happen to me twice with a Kruger. While they call the joint AccuLoc, it is similar to the UniLoc. Applying a minimal amount of grease to the thread fixed the problem. Greasing allows the thread to turn just a little further, and that results in a stable connection.

Detlev

Never had a problem with my Uni-loc joint. I always used joint protectors when the cue was not in use, and wiped the pin with a dry Predator hand towel before and after play. These joints are very delicate, so keeping them clean will avoid any problems. Make sure you tighten your cue ALL the way, otherwise it WILL become loose after shooting a rack or so. The hit is very nice as well.

I understand they are trickery to install properly. I've never used one but I personally enjoy the time it takes to srcew my cue. Its part of the ritual.:D
