what do you think of bonus ball?

I really do hope this league is a success, If this game can be played with standard pool balls why do they need a special set of orange and purple? If they used numbered balls this will make the game seem more like something you will find at your local pool hall and you will get more people playing it, the more that play it and understand it the more will support it. Football is a game that in most parts of North America you can find it and its played the same as in the pro levels just not as well and it is also in most schools teaching about it in Phys Ed maybe pool should be in schools teaching our kids about the different games but before that could happen we would need a true governing body to cover all aspects of cue sports and have some organisation to our game. Im just a pool player and fan and hope that our game makes a turn for the better and hope this is a start for that.

The purple, orange, and black show up really well on tv against the gray cloth that they used. I think that makes sense. Also everyone is aware that in your home room you can play with a standard set if you wish.

I'm looking forward to it.

I have a long history of attending events of new pool organizations. I've attended at least one event of each of the WPBA, PPPA, PBT, Camel Tour, PCA, UPA, IPT, and many other pool organizations. I am keen on checking out the WPBL live.

I'll be in Vegas briefly during March and the WPBL schedule says that two team matches will be played while I'm there, so I will likely be in a position to attend.

Can anyone tell me how I can get tickets to watch a bonus ball team match live?

I couldn't agree more with the OP. I like the concept of having city teams, as it may be one of the more feasible ways to get national exposure for pool. But, why a new game? I believe 8 or 9 ball would have been much better IMHO.

I assume they will have the info up soon. I looked around http://www.playbonusball.com/ and couldn't find any info. (Note to BB: you need to redesign your site -- the front page is lousy.)

Previously they announced that the cost of tickets would be $40/session. I see that they have room for 100 spectators in the new arena. They seem to have made it impossible/difficult for anyone to get ticket info from the new site. The physical address info available is:
The venue is located beside the airport, just south of Sunset Blvd. The nearby hotel provides free shuttle service to the hotel and venue, a mere 5 minute walk from the arena.

The playbonusballball site is for amateur players. There are several links taking you over to the wpbl site if you so desire and links to rules and how to order a game set if you desire. Approximately half the main page is all a huge link to the professional league site. If you are still lost, www.wpbl.tv gets you there! Soon this site will also have info on where we are starting up amateur leagues! The site is basic and that is how it will stay. No flashy scripts. Just simply an educational site for amateur players.

Larry can't and won't allow tickets to be sold until he has the arena ready! He has been promised it finished too many times now. I am sure Nathan will soon be posting about the status any time soon. In the mean time, let's enjoy Christmas and enjoy some Eight Ball at local venues who also really need to be supported! Merry Christmas all!

For what it's worth...

I watched the preview videos, all the way through.
Here are my thoughts:

Although there are teams, they don't play like teams. They should be playing scotch doubles at least part time. Look at the Mosconi Cup format = well rounded team effort.

Although there is a crowd, they are not enthusiastic enough to matter. The point of cheering and being excited is supposed to raise the pressure on the opposing team, and build positive energy in the person playing. Again, look at the Mosconi Cup, hands down the most tension building audience in history.

The ball spotting ladies look ridiculous and gross. There really needs to be two? They can't rack the balls also? AGAIN, Mosconi Cup, Mikayla was HOT and looked professional. Plus she could ref and rack the balls!

Now for the actual game. I've been playing pool for over 15 years, I've invented games myself that have been posted here before. I understand the concept and the logic that went into designing it... but it is badly flawed, and I think the pro's are just being nice to the promoters because they are getting pay checks.
Let me try and explain, in all pool games there are key shots. Any experienced pool player or sweater will know where the key shots are in a rack right after the break, the excitement in pool comes when players attack those key shots... they have to use their creativity in the spur of the moment and clinch those key shots to win the rack.
All the BB I watched, I never saw a key shot. I was never on the edge of my seat waiting to see if they got good on their problem ball... or how they were going to figure out the cluster.
The game is either too easy, or just lousy. Sorry.
For example, watch Mike Sigel play 14.1 here, there were several times he had to make brilliant shots... shots that will never ever come up in BB. And 14.1 is considered the most boring game to watch, until you see someone do something really great.

There are no opportunities for these players to do anything great.
I love the team idea, but these guys are playing singles not doubles.
Why... why not BCAPL 3/4 man teams playing singles and scotch doubles 8-ball?? Where there are real identifiable game winning shots, where tension builds up to that shot. I'll pay to see the Mosconi Cup, I will never pay to see Bonus Ball, and it hurts me to say that.

I wasn't the biggest fan when I watched the preview, Since then I have talked to several of the players and to a man they all say they like the game. If they like it, I think I can give it some of my time. I am just glad I have a team of great people that happen to be great pool players to cheer for. They all happen to play on the LA WAVE
