What Do you think would be a fair game?

Well I think most of you guys would pull up real fast only getting a ball and the breaks on a barbox from a top pro if you ever played it. I saw Shane give two solid A- players the 5 out and the breaks in 10 ball in Valley Forge on a Diamond barbox and stay neck and neck with them. I know that's 10 ball, but I'd say 5 out and breaks in 10 ball is WAY more weight than 8 and breaks in 9 ball.

On a full size table, the pro would have an even bigger advantage.

My opinion is anyone who is not an A player on a 9 footer (my definition of A is being able to beat the ghost), couldn't beat a top pro no matter what the weight is on a 9 footer. Its just a completely different league of player.

so true my friend.

Come on now I watched SVB destroy an A player giving the 6&8 last 4 and the breaks. Yes he SVB won the race by 3 or 4 games if I remember correctly. Yes the other guy played good. He literally lost by the couple dry breaks, having to push out, or tied up balls. Maybe missed 1 or 2 open shots but that is it. He didn't dog it, he played a damn champion.

I'm thinking the 5 and the last 5 with all the snaps is a decent starting point, and thats just a starting point. You probably will need more.

Hey Mikey; I believe I was standing next to you watching that display! The A player (???) jumped out to an early lead, and I like to say, REALIZED who he was playing! lol Seemed to be a HUGE spot in the first 3 or 4 games, but by game 8, 9, and 10 - we all saw Shane KNOWS what he can give!

Personally, I wouldn't ask for any spot from any top pro, I'd just see how little I could play for and pay what I thought the experience was worth.

Im no great player by any means but if you're talkin about a barbox, i dont think anyone on gods green earth can give me the 5 the last 5 and the breaks. I think my break is too strong, unless they try to gaff me every rack which ill see and stop. If i was playin someone like shane id want somethin like the 3 out if i couldnt get the breaks and probably still lose. The break is a huge spot on a barbox but you're also talkin about the 5 and the last 5, thats a ridiculous spot that i dont think anyone would be smart to give a strong player.

I realized this is a BB thread after I wrote that, but even so...if you dont B&R you will lose mostly every game against a top pro. So basically you need whatever you can beat the ghost, with no ball in hand whenever you are playing bad. It won't feel like playing in your basement, it will feel like you are on the damn TV table when the heat is on.

Indeed you were there, will you tell them what happened with that guy realized the following things...A. This is a race to 10...B. I'm getting planet earth and I outrun this game every day of my life 10-1 or 10-2 against the ghost without BIH...C. Oh Shit!!!I'm betting $2.5 large against SVB, FML!

Lol

Time to fess up .... I played Gabe about 3-4 years ago with the 6 ball, and he beat me like a drum. I am an A player, and my break was not working that night. 2 sets to 7 for $100 each. LOL .... I gave him the 7 when he was 17.

But, it is like it was said, you have 1 chance to win usually, because the pro will run out or safety you and make you jump or kick.

I saw Johnny Archer give a average B level player the 3, 5, 7 and the break for $500. Johnny won it. But no other pro at the tournament would step up and give the same guy the same spot. He invited them all to line up and play him races to 7 that way, but only Johnny stepped up.

What do think you would need in a race to 11 playing 9-ball against a pro like John Schmidt for $100 or more a set?

Please the rating you feel you are also....A, B, C, D. I'm a "B" on a BB. I believe I would need the wild 8 and the breaks. Johnnyt

NO straight pool...after that run I saw him do the other day I'm humbled as hell. You hear that John I said it...Hope you are doing well this holiday.

Are you going to Gabes one pocket tourney?

The first game he lost to SVB something clicked in his head...

this is worse than the ghost because -

1) there are 100 people watching every shot - some rooting against me.
2) this guy is whipping up on the world class speed LOCAL HERO in the next room.
3) I don't owe the ghost thousands of dollars if HE gets me.

There wasn't another player in the room (I really believe, not a one) who woulda liked giving him that spot, but Shane made it look pretty easy.

I once saw James Walden, about 7 years ago, give a strong B player in Enid the 6, the last four, and every other break and robbed him of 3 grand. Two sets to 9 took about an hour and fifteen minutes in which James never missed a single intended shot or a lock up safe. Perfection in pool is a beautiful thing to witness.

Richie Richeson used to give B players the last 6 and the breaks in Tampa.

And John is quite a bit better than Richie.

Honestly...You gotta run to your money ball to win..The last two will not mean anything.

John can spot that "aa" player the 7, prolly.

Russ

John S. gave a strong B player the 6 out and the breaks and beat him 11-2 and 11-1. The guy was so in shock he was calling friends in Nebraska where he's considered one of the best players in his area.
