what do you use for a "house" cue?

I see what people personally play with in signatures etc but what do you let guests, friends, family play with on your home tables?

I'm building my "mancave" currently and have my table here but bought it a la carte so to speak - without house cues. Obviously I'll need something for other people to play with as I'm a bit of a freak over my personal cues.

Anyway I'm curious what everyone has for the 'other' pool players for your tables.

I went to the SBE a few years ago and bought 3 two piece cues from one of the vendors. They are solid and my guests all seem to be okay with them. I also have a Lambros sneaky Pete that some of them use.

I have 5 cues that came with the package that came with the table, I put elk masters on them, and they are pretty straight. They work good.

I have a few Schmelke sneaky petes, all different woods and all different shaft tapers ... great cues for about $125 each.

I like smaller diameter cue tips so I shoot with a McDermott I-3 shaft with a 11.75mm tip. So for a house cue, that I only use at home, I bought from Mueller a Snooker Pro Cue for $22. It's a 60" cue with a 12mm Le Pro tip. It's a terrific cue and I really enjoy playing with it. For home use you can't beat a one piece cue. A well made one will last forever and is so inexpensive. Good luck in your quest.

Almost no one comes to play at my house that doesn't have their own cue. I can only think of one person that has ever played here that doesn't seriously play pool, and I just let him use a Joss cue I have, but he was careful.

I pretty much don't invite people to play if they don't play competitive pool. It's not really fun for someone to miss a shot and watch someone run out racks.

If you go to the local bar table servicing business, you will be able to buy new house cues from them for a reasonable price. Select various weights and sizes. Most visitors will be happy with these and to ones who aren't usually have their own cues.

As a note: you may want to prep the new cues by sanding the front of the shaft and dressing up the tips.

I got Lucasi (sp?) house cues with my table, including a 48" for the one tight spot.

I have a cue that a good friend gave me. It belonged to his father and his father was on the set of the Hustler when it was made. One day after the shoot was over, his father and Jackie Gleason played a game of straight pool and the cue he gave me is the one his father used at the time. So when I let someone use it, I have a nice story to tell along with it.

I picked up several "house cues" from Muellers, for about $15 each. They serve their purpose, nicely. Frankly, most people who don't have their own personal cue, wouldn't know the difference anyway.

I don't have a table at home but i have used house cues all over the US and the 1 piece cuetec's play really consistent if you put a good tip on them

That is a cool story. What kind of cue? Whatever it is-it has some nice history attached to it.
