Some names I haven't seen for quite a while:

Claude Bernatchez---a strong Canadian player, especially on the seniors tour

Howard Vickery

Leil (J. R.) Gay---seems like he moved from Ohio to Arizona and was looking for a job

Ron Shepard---he used to be in the middle of every math/physics discussion

Jimmy (Flyboy) Spears---is he still playing pool?

I'll think of some more.

It's something i will not forget about Vickery and taht is that Earl the pearl said...
He said that Vickery had some kind of spell over him and that's why he couldn't beat Vickery...
That Earl is a nut:grin:

Well, I have only played Vickery once in a tournament and I got lucky and won.

Using the law of deductive reasoning I must be a better player than Earl. :)

This is also known as pool's six degrees of seperation.

and I should beat you so, using the transitive property in a proof theorem will yield.

1) If Ktown > Earl and Corvette > Ktown then Corvette > Earl. --- transitive property
2) Closure.

Flyboy is still in Houston, but, doesn't play very often at all. He has a bad hip he really struggles with.

He was brifly aprt owner in Cue-N- Chshion in Houston but sold out several months ago and as far as I know is just playing poker now.

THere was a 9-ball and 1-pocket tourney at C-n-C a couple of years ago and Jimmy got 2nd in the 9 ball and I think 2nd maybe 3rd in the 1-pocket. He caught some rolls and got a bit fortunate, but, you could tell the knowledge was there.

We sat around later that night and had a few beers and talked about the old days and he still laughs like a little kid.

FLyboy was never the best player, but, he sure had gamble about him. He would put it out there. If he liked the game, you were in for torture and you had to beat him into submission. He is one of my favorites.

You are right, Ironman. Jimmy, wasn't a top player but he was able to hit that GEAR at times when he made the top players believe they had a bad game. I vividly remember him drilling Louie Roberts playing even 9 ball in Tupelo, MS. He won many thousands and Louie's car.

I remember hearing about that.

Evertrime I think about the guy, I just smile. He is a very quiet guy, but get a couple of beers in him and get him going, he is quite funny. He's just one of those guys that I liked to sit next to.

I once asked him about the time he blew like $40000 to james Walden. He just looked at me, smiled and quietly said, "ah, you know, I just stalled too long"!! I LMAO!!!

Jame Walden might beat Jesus Christ for $10 g's. I just love that guy for the cash. How 'bout him beatin' my boy who'd just won the US open. Gabe. I think I heard the quote as, "Go win some more and come on back." That guy is CAPABLE.

He is another of my favorites. There is just something about that guy that no matter what he says, I start laughing. He is so dry and serious. BUt, it cracks me up.

He is another one who can catch that top fear too.

He beat me in Raleigh, once. I end up in Myrtle Beach over the weekend looking for ____________, and guess who ______________ is playin' as I walk in the door..... James. I think James was up about $400 at $20 a game. Unreal coincidence. Johnny once told me he wouldn't drive more than 3 miles trying to find James. I just love that guy.
