I was watching the 1994 PBT 9-Ball open on ESPNC (Reyes vs Varner). This was Reyes's first US Major win. Anyway there was Allen Hopkins and another announcer on doing commentary. I was amazed at how knowledgable the other guy was (sorry I don't have his name). He and Allen did a great job announcing and didn't miss a beat. He would actually ask... "Nick is going to have to use low right to get back for the nine right Allen?" and he was right. I wish I had his name it would make this post more interesting but I want to know what happened to him and why the hell did Mitch take over his job? You would think that because he is married to the striking viking he would at least learn something through osmosis. I watch a lot of matches with the sound off because he can be unbearable.

I dont think that was Kevin. Although Kevin did do a good job.

There were a couple of non-Barry Tompkins announcers that sounded like they had a clue. Barry was the worst, IMO.

Lon McEachern (who now does the poker tournaments with Norm Chad)

Kim Prince (I have no idea what he does now.)

I decided Kim Prince was an idiot after I heard him try to tell a story while calling Jimmy Moore Jimmy "The Meatman" Moore. If you don't know the difference between cowboy Jimmy Moore and Joe Balsis and they are the players in the tournament you probalby shouldn't be announcing.
 
Unfortunately for Mitch and the viewers who have to listen to him pool knowledge is not a sexually transmitted dicease.

I wish they would let wetch, incardona or grady do the wpba.
