what happened in memphis

Memphis

It was a good tournament. They had a full field once again. Shane Jones won the tournament, Mark Allen got second, I got third, can't remember who got fourth, but Darren Everett and Jonathan Hennessee tied for fifth/sixth. I'm not exactly sure about the rest of the field, but they did pay sixteen spots. The area has cleaned up a lot, too, as they closed the projects behind the Rack. I will definitely go back next year. It has one of the best auctions of anywhere.

> Chuck played DAMN sporty in spots,if not for one scratch on the break he was in like Flynn. If you read this Chuck, that 2-ball you cut in in the hill game against Shane was the best shot I've ever seen you hit,and one of the toughest shots I've ever seen made in extreme heat by ANYONE. You absolutely have to use the WEI table and show the world what you did here. Tommy D.

I love playing pool at The Rack. That area of Lamar has always been a high crime area but it has never stopped me from playing there every time I am in Memphis. I am glad to hear they have cleaned it up. That tournament has always been one of the best. Anyone that has never been should really consider making plans to go every year. It's really a lot of fun and great action.

Thanks for the compliment, Tommy. I am not exactly sure if I remember the shot you are talking about, but I think it was the shot where I made the two and got hooked behind the nine on the three. It was a big swing. Maybe I'll get the roll next time. Congratulations to Shane as well.

> Here is the shot as I remember it,I was focusing so hard on what you were doing with the 2 I can't remember the whole exact layout, but the cue ball position, object ball position and cue ball route are pretty much dead on,I remember wondering how the hell you took the route you did and still make the ball. Hopefully you can correct this layout, and explain what brought you to the decision you made. Tommy D.

WEI Table

Tommy,

I am not sure how to use the WEI table. If someone will explain it, I will try to explain the shot.

> Pretty simple actually, here is the basic link.

All you do now,is move the balls around to simulate your layout, and use the little arrows at the bottom to show the cue ball path, then when you get it set up like you want, click "copy" at the bottom, then paste the code into a post here. When someone puts a shot up here, all you do is highlight the whole string of code, then paste it into the window on the WEI table, and the shot comes right up. Once you get the hang of it,you can show things that cannot be described, like the shot at hand here. Tommy D.

ok

I got it figured out. I didn't have a lot of options on this shot. I could have banked the two cross-side, but I was afraid to kiss off the six. I maybe could have played a safe that was easy to hit, but I was afraid to let him kick at it on a bar table. My only other option was to swing at it, and there wasn't really any risk of scratching, so I took my chances, made it, and got out. I only wish I could go back and finish the rest of the set from there.

> That sounds about right Chuck,it took guts to swing at that tough a shot under battle conditions, with the match on the line to boot. It was amazing to me how you got the cue ball to take the path it did,it looked like you hit it with a low left draw stroke, usually when I try the same type of thin cut with inside spin I either scratch one rail cross side,or come straight across the table. Did it catch a piece of the 6 after hitting the 2? Tommy D.

No, it went in clean. I actually only used about a half a tip of low and a half a tip of left on the shot. I don't believe that "loading it up" with spin really allows a person to hit the ball any thinner. I think it will take the same path with a half a tip or two and a half tips. Just my opinion.
