Last year there was a video where Brunswick had hired students at a college to design he GCVi and since then I haven't heard a thing.

I asked Brunswick about it roughly 6 months ago...all they would say is that they expect it to be available in 2016.

In case you missed it, we did an interview ( on ABR ) with the student who's design was chosen by Brunswick.

I think Brunswick may use some design cues from the students, but it will still be fully designed by in-house brunswick engineers (or contract engineers), and not so much the way the art students drew it up. In other words, it will look like the last 50 yrs of GC's, and play like a GC should:)

I think you are mostly right, obviously the designers must work within the parameters of the engineers ( form follows function ) but I believe, from the information available thus far, that Brunswick is planning to adhere to the student's design as much as physically possible. Which is good.
The designer did an excellent job, the GC was due for a revamp, and the kid's name will go down in history, having been added to a very exclusive list of designers and dignitaries who's names are permanently associated with certain table models. It will springboard his career and he has Brunswick to thank, which is a rare occasion these days if you know what I mean.
