What I believe is the most pure form of pool

This is a subject I have been thinking about much as of late. I believe that full rack bank is # 1 for the following reasons - every ball must go clean and their is not much of any kind of politics with the rack (as in short rack bank). The two other games are the 14.1 challenge and the one pocket challenge, unfortunatley as I have learned if you compete against another opponent in either of these two disciplines the rack mechanics can be and usually are a major factor on the outcome of match play. Take example the 14.1 tournament match play, sometimes it is difficult to get the rack frozen due to conditions, which means at a high level of play the player who wins the lag is a strong favorite to get the first offensive shot. Even if the rack has been tapped after a few matches the rack can be changed with a little help, where as in the 14.1 challenge where the player receives say ten ball in hand break shots the rack does not really matter too much. Of course three cushion is the best game of all in my opinion, the rack mechanics probably do not like three cushion billiards or the 14.1 challenge in my view. Any thoughts?
Define "pure," please. And if you can do that, why is pure good? Define "clean," while you're at it. :)

Yea, that was my first post on the topic. What's your point?
Nah, I think you are confused. I only replied to posts from you where you quoted me.
See anything?
You think snooker is boring, too limited as a billiards game, no rail shots, playable shots drop to unacceptable percentages if they're slightly off angle or involve too much distance; all demonstrably incorrect.
Why is that notion incorrect? It's an observation on the way big snooker is demonstrated. Your post is incorrect.

Thank y'all for most of the replies, in closing I would add that on a diamond table (pro spec) against another top bank player I have learned to break safe. The break I saw most of the top players choosing (in bfull rack bank) was a variation of the opening break in 14.1, so again to those who might believe that the rack matters - it does not. Just as John Brumback stated, they can throw em up there any way they so choose, the cue ball will end up residing near the bottom cushion. if many disperse on opening break (possibly due to a loose rack) - it will not matter, they will still end up having to bank the first ball - near or frozen to bottom cushion. I still believe that bank is the most pure discipline, not as creative as One Pocket or 3 cushion - but more pure - definitely. If anyone chooses to disagree - so be it, as u can lead a horse to water in all that. So again - in a full rack bank pool event event - the rack will never come into play - no arguing over the rack - that we see in 9 ball and one pocket (rack dominated disciplines) full rack banks is the most Pure discipline of all in Billiards.

Sorry for confusion as I am old and dumb and from Kentucky. I meant to also add you have 10 attempts or 10 innings or whatever is the proper way to say. Keep track of all balls made in the 10 attempts and at the end of the 10 attempts you add all balls together to get to total balls made.
that is a good run, I play sum bank in Kentucky some day. Not looking to play Brumback but any one else - maybe so. Good Day

I agree .Not sure what Danny ment by pure.It sounds like he's talking about a game that one cant take advantage of.
this is coming from the guy who stated he would play anyone One Pocket - who had posted in the no Smoking pool room's thread (as I had posted in the thread). As it turned out - u clearly were mistaken. When I pm you bout coming to philly to try u in some One Pocket - you decided to change yer theory bout playing me. It must have sounded good at the time - but once reality set in (or what yer backer told u) u lost some of your courage. Stay brave philly - stay brave.

To run all 15 balls in order is a major accomplishment

I would say, as a player's opinion of all things considered Rotation is the most "pure" game.

I grew up playing rotation and so did Efren, Bustemante, and ALL Filipinos from what I'm told. I would venture to guess that many of the past and some present champions also grew up playing rotation as well.

To run all 15 balls in order is a major accomplishment and if you can "beat the ghost" playing rotation, that is the highest speed possible. IMHO
to run 37 in banks (Knoxville Bear) - is an even greater accomplishment.

I really wish that someone would send a top player through Springfield, MO to try me sum Bank (full rack). I would play, the action is tough and they cannot win much - but - again I will play. I have no big government sponsors - just think I can compete with the best - and possibly get a W here or there is all.

I'm a 14.1 guy but most are gone. Cut teeth on straight pool 60's, 90's. Was sooo relaxing unlike 9 or 8 ball. 3 cushion now there's a gentleman's
game. Not for my pea brain.

Learning 3 cushion - will really help in Bump Pool. Or at least it did for me, still working at the details.

No biker. I think between your legs is the dumbest place to put more than one horsepower. But back to pool, Biker 8 ball is the most inane billiards practice I've come across. I kinda understand these guys aren't poolers and the "honor" of what they believe is no slop and pure skill but obviously those ethics encompass only a minuscule portion of pool. I see bank pool as the pro version of that ethic.:p

So AGAIN - for anyone who believes that THE RACK CAN BE ALTERED in negative way for FULL RACK BANK - they are mistaken and should reserve their limited knowledge on the subject of bank pool - for their inept facebook friendz. The rack in full rack bank is incorruptible, it is this facet IMHO that reserves Bank Pool as the most Pure form of Pocket billiards - particularly in regards to 1 ball having to be always pocketed/banked clean as the irish spring and AGAIN in the the racking of Opening break - the scoundrels of the game will steer away from bank pool - due to the fact they cannot give a bad rack and upset opponent i.e coward shark tactics. Simply put the cowards of pool stay away from banks as it is tougher to pull moves on the racking end, plus they cannot argue on whether or not a ball went clean etc.

How do you break full rack banks? Wide open like 8 ball?
On a blue label diamond with fast cushions - and facings - I prefer safety break. Also when practicing against another - I prefer to play ball in hand after every missed bank. Then a player can focus on not only making the bank but also position play.
