It's part 1 of 7, if you want to see the full match. This one is special because of the young Earl and Keith McCready with his odd stroke that originates from his youth growing up in a pool hall. He barely got above the table and that is how he got this stroke. His dad would give him money and then play him for the money.
Also in this video there's the smoking at the table and at some point a ball from another table rolls under their match table.
Alltogether it paints a picture of what those days were like.
It may have been the greatest match in US Open 9ball history. Check out the final of the 2014 US Open 9-ball, SVB vs Dennis Orcullo. The level of play is almost unfathomable. Two all-time greats in dead stroke at the same time.
No high runs, but a lot of drama from the tight score
A few instances of sloppy play keep the race tight, and some amazing shots.
Watching Efren play 14.1 is like watching Michelangelo paint the Sistine Chapel. If Straight pool was the big game in his era he might even be more highly regarded than he is now.
best snooker world final to me is mark williams vs. john higgins 2018:
two legends of the class of '92. higgins is considered a master mover, williams a shooter. williams was in dead stroke, made shots one handed, eyes closed.. he didn't expect to win at his ripe age and since he didn't, he said to the interviewer after the QF that if he won it all he'll do the press conference naked. he had to pay that price eventually.
but also a bunch of matches with reyes, joyner and daulton. i love that era of one pocket. a lot of it is on youtube too, although in low resolution. reyes is the goat but cliff joyner in his prime had a brilliant touch and played amazing twist banks.
