What is a good 3-player game?

Ring game 15 Ball (Rotation) money on the 5, 10, and 15, or small money on the 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15.

Or play to a certain point number race to 180, 3 fouls = -25pts and $1/point last place player pays 50 cents a point to both first and second place.

There have been some really good suggestions but I have something a little different that you may want to try. Get Mike Massey's Ultimate Pool Challenge, the advanced version. It can be a nice change from the same ole same ole, and it has a point system so it can be used for gambling is you so choose.

Pool 300. Just google it and it will come up with the rules. Play a set number of frames, 3, 5 whatever.

3 ball is a good game because everyone gets a opportunity to shoot. They have a chance to break and shoot to make 3 balls.

Tried to convince many team mates to do that as it gives everyone a chance to feel out the table instead of the best player dominating the the table the whole time. Doesn't do the others players any good to have one turn, miss and then have to sit without a chance to shoot any more before the league starts.

Every Wednesday before league I have some guys over to warm up and do a little gambling. We usually play a golf game that I have, we set it up as match play, $5 for the front, $10 for the back and $5 for the overall, the most you can lose is $20 to each man.

One of the players seems to pay out very regularily so I am looking to find a new 3-player game we can try. We usually have about an hour and 45 minutes to practice before league so the game would need to be finished in that amount of time. Also I would like something where no one sits out for any prolonged time, I can't stand watching two people play for 30 minutes on my table while I sit on the couch. ;)

You can play Kelly pool. You have 15 numbered pills in a bottle, you can get the rules Online. Each player gets a pill from the bottle with a number on it. If you make the numbered ball on the pill you pulled that man has to pay you! We used to play this pool game all of the time on the road. And then people stopped playing it. I hope this helps!
Many Regards,

I like to play cribbage, played it alot in the late 70's and early 80's. great 2,3 or 4 man game.

i thought it was funny how did you do it lol

Thanks. Just search for "google it for you", type in what you want to search for, and it will give you a link you can paste into the forum. I thought it was funny when someone did it to me and was waiting to use it here.

3 ball ring game. One tie, all tie. Everyone throws a dollar/5 dollars/whatever in the hat. Each player breaks a 3 ball rack and runs out, then records their score. Lowest score wins the money, but if there are any ties the money carries over. The money stacks up in that hat pretty fast. Generally you need to make a ball on the break to win.

Ship's Captain and crew 8-ball.Captain breaks. Treat it just like a team 8-ballgame but the Captain gets to be his own partner and plays against his crew. He shoots after each of the crew members who alternate innings.

You can modify game by the crew playing scotch doubles, or by each player taking his turn as Captain, or having Captain stay Captain as long as he keeps winning.

If your betting and the Captain wins , the crew each pay the Captain the bet. If the crew wins the Captain pays each of the crew the bet.

cut throat with 15 balls

We have tried cut throat a few times. We stopped playing because whoever gets to break always seems to win.

The cribbage game sounds interesting, any idea where I could find the rules?

cut throat with 15 balls each player gets 5 balls.
The object is to keep your balls ON the table.
player 1 get 1-5 player 2 gets 6-10 player 3 gets 11-15
If you scratch & a player has no balls on the table he gets 1 of his balls put back on the table spotted.

If you have run out players then Put a maximum on how many balls he can run at one time.

Cribbage is the way to go in my opinion. It is not only a great practice game, it's hard to get bored, it's also an amazing position game. Each combo is a point with the 15 being last and only 8 points per rack. I love this game.

If it's the golf game I'm thinking oof...it's an awesome game for 3-4 players. It's also fun to play with 6-8 players in scotch doubles. Good money game too!
