What is right with pool?

Last night I played two sets of nine ball.

Then I played 3-5-7 the Taiwanese carom game played on a pool table.

Then I played a Taiwanese version of ring 9 ball for a while.

Then I played about five hours worth of one pocket.

What other activity can you do where you have the same equipment, same people, and an endless variety of games to match up in??

I almost got into a rotation game but we couldn't agree on the spot. I was offered to play 8 ball.

So to me this is one of the things that is really RIGHT with pool.

i can say for me that pool brought me together with lots of nice people. our community over here is small so everyone knows everyone. i love going to tournaments knowing lots of nice people, everyone cheers everyone. playing pool all the day in such an athmosphere is GREAT.

btw this is not sarcastic thats how organized pool is here

Timeless fun. And a life time of it.

The greatest point I have ever thought of for why pool is the best pastime of all time is simple. It is the game you can play from 4 years old to 104, and if you get injured from it then it was your fault.

It is one of the more challenging sports that is one of the easiest to put "In" your house without breaking the bank.

Not many people can afford to put a bowling alley in the house....or a football field or basketball court in the house.....not to mention a golf course!

And believe it or not....there is something "right" about being able to hit some balls in only your boxers right before going to bed...or just before that first cup of coffee in the morning...;)

Pool requires strategy, hand/eye coordination, timing, and visualization skills. It can be played alone or with an opponent. You can play at any age and the game can be easily handicapped. You can play tournaments, gamble or simply challenge yourself. These are obvious things that make the game great.

But what I really like, is the fact that pool players are from all walks of life. From blue collar to white collar to no collar at all. Old and young with interesting stories to tell. People that don't normally associate make lifetime friendships. This is what's right with pool.

Plenty. I spent about three hours the other night playing pool at my house with a good friend. Great conversation, good music, and a couple of cold beers.

I cant tell you how many great people I have met playing pool. Something that would have never happened if not for pool. And that is just one small thing that is right.

TAR has/is great for pool. What other sport can you watch 3 days of 2 champions match up for about $30 bucks.

small group i play one pocket with almost every week if is wasnt for pool would of never met or hung out with any of them. im 28 years of one guy is in his 30"S another in his 60's one in his 70"s. pool is great that it bring so many ppl together that you would other wise never get to konw.

Over the years I have made some very good friends and met a lot of nice folks because of pool. My eyes aren't as good as they use to be, but, I
can still play and enjoy it. Once in awhile I even win. As the Miz once said, "Pool is the greatest game on earth." And I truly believe it is.

OH sure,.....NOW you add in rules that you have to get exercise while playing....I see how you are, so I guess getting up to get your OWN beer don't count as exercise....right:p:D:D

Yeah, and what about those long nights of doing 16 ounce curls  (ya gotta alternate the arms every so often or your gonna have one bicep bigger than the other ;)).
