What is the best low deflection lot of english action shaft?

Non-laminated shafts are the best!!!!:)

Low defection and a lot of english are more effected by stroke and solid firm hit than anything else.

This technique is not magic, it is however, an acquired skill and the secret is simple practice practice practice;)

Do not be deceived by the laminated shaft myth, it's the player not the shaft, and if you do not believe this you have gotten the shaft!!!!!

PS: Do you know where the laminated shafts are made? China: for how long? Forever: Why do they cost so much? Because they can get it!!!

Have a nice night !!!!

i do agree 100% with your statement, but why do such a high percentage or pro's use predator shafts without any kind of endorsement.

Actually...

it really all boils down to personal preferance. It really does. I have a Predator 314 on my Coker Sneaky, and I like it, especially since I'm used to it. On the other hand, I absolutely love the OB-1, that's on my cousins plain-jane Coker. (Need to post pics...) The weight of his cue, is a little too much for me, but man, that shaft almost makes me forget all about it. :p Still personal preferance though. :D

This is a matter that is somewhat debated. A little while back, there was a list that showed what cues some of the pro's were playing with and whether or not a an aftermarket shaft was used. There weren't as many as you think.

One reason I can think of as to why some players use the Predator over the original could very well be because, when you're on the tournament trail, and you have an immediate need for a new shaft, you can pick up a Predator almost anywhere, whereas, you may have to wait for a replacement one from a cuemaker.

I am of the mind that I pick a particular cuemaker's cue because of the way that it plays....the whole cue. They build their cues with a particular playability in mind, and fine tune their shafts to work well with their particular construction technique. Why mess with that? Otherwise, you could pick up a Budweiser cue and slap a Predator shaft on it. I think some cuemakers take an affront to people wanting them to slap a Predator as opposed to their shaft on a cue when requesting a custom.

Universal Smart Shaft

I strongly second that opinion.
Next to a beautiful hard rock maple shaft, there is none better, IMO, than the Universal.

314 Spongy?

i used to use a 314 on my now stolen joss. i found it to have a somewhat spongy feel to it. am i alone in this or does anyone else feel the same? does the 314(2) have any differences?

i played with a predator for 3 ish years and never noticed any spongy feeling. i really like the prodigy shaft i got with my qp. it get english easier for me and feels more solid.

i voted for the black dot...no shame here. never shot with a predator. i have no problems with the black dot shaft. sutes me well. diferent strokes for diferent folks. just what im comfortable with.

I hit with a guys cue the other day for a few racks. He had a Mucci with a black dot and a soft moori on it. It hit like junk, I can't beleive people play like that. No touch, no feel, no nothing. I shot fine with it, except for the fact that I hated every second of it...

I'm all about the hard rock maple from your cuemaker.

no offense but you can get comfortable with any cue, including the one with a 10oz. weight bold and slip on tip. i respect you for speaking up, but i URGE you to open your horizon to other shafts.

I was playing with a Preditor 314 and last year went to an OB 1 and played with it for about 3 months. I never could get the speed of it down so i went back to my old one. You can get some good english with the OB 1 but i just never could get it under control.
