What Is The Highest Known Price Paid For A Cue And Who Was The Cue Maker?

That Cue On The Front Cover Of The Second Blue Book Of Cues. The One With The Sterling Silver Handle. Thew Owner Turned 75,ooo For It I Heard.

about 4 months ago, I was offered a pair of cues(i know, not just a single cue) that still has me scratching my head.

Mosconi's family is selling his personal very fancy Bushka, with impeccable provenance from the family. It comes with many pictures of him winning many events with this particular stick which he apparently played with for many years. (no, this isn't the cue he ran the 526 with).

The other cue is also a bushka, but is BRAND NEW and UNCHALKED!!! I don't think there exists today an unplayed bushka. Like mosconi's playing cue, it is also an extremely fancy cue.

Not sure if the set sold, but they were asking $400k for the pair. I know one of the families main objectives was to keep it here in the US.

I would like to think that Willie's cue belongs in the Smithsonian, IMHO!

Didn't Jim Rempe have a Meucci cue stick that sold for a hefty sum overseas many years ago? I cannot locate the article, but if pushed, I could post it up. I'm hoping somebody knows the answer, though!

That's an interesting cue, but they don't mention what kind of pin they used, is it their standard 3/8-10, or a quickrelease? And how far from the butt of the cue is the balance point? :D
At 63 1/2" and 152 ozs. It must hit a ton ;) :D

IMO it shouldn't be classified as a pool cue..how can someone shoot with those blades on it ?

I agree, at least you can shoot with Thomas Wayne's Celtic Prince cue.
The Mcdermott is a medival weapon and comes with an optional shield:D

I don't know how accurate this article is:

There is also "The Intimidator"

I don't know if it sold or not.

The cue Thomas built sold for $40,000.00 ,[ it's list was
103K,], to movie star Mr. Rick Rodgers. Rick told me this a few years back, while we were in French Lick, Ind. at a seniors event.
Thomas came with his 103K, because he was trying to top mine at 100K. Differance is, I got my asking price. He didn't...

W. Thomas should've stuck a few diamonds and rubies in his:rolleyes:
The posted $40,000 that he got for it was due to the labor involved (and reputation, of course), not the cost of materials used.

I think Ginacue has sold cues for well over $100,000.

One of his cues, he was offered $100,000 PLUS a yacht for one of his cues, and he turned it down. This is from word of mouth, so I don't know how accurate that is. I'm sure someone else has heard of Ernie turning down some large amount and a boat for one of his cues, perhaps they can correct me if I'm wrong.

If you can find any additional information, I would appreciated it!!!

Have a great Day, and thanks for posting!!!

WELL $12,000.00 might buy a set of joint protectotrs for the cues we are talking about ....:)

Yeah, if they were made of whale teeth or something...

Don't forget the Lambros "Dagger" cue that was made a few years ago. I saw the cue at Valley Forge and was asking about how the cue was made and some other basic info about the cue... I got nothing... it would have been easier to get front door keys to the White House than ANY information about the cue. It was in a nifty display case, though.

Thanks Blud, that is still a very large some of money, and what cue maker wouldn't like to sell a single cue for that.

Thanks for posting, have a nice day Sir!!!!!!!!!!

Now that I am thinking about this thread, I do remember speaking with Mike Sigel in Rochester, NY about 3 years ago, in which he stated that he custom-made a cue stick with many diamonds in it. If memory serves me right, the asking price was $500,000.

I have a feeling that he may have found a buyer since 3 years ago, but it's only a guess on my part. :p

JAM,
Rempe's was full of diamonds and/or rubies. Back then I believe at the time it was a round number maybe 10K or 20K.

Hello AZ members I am just curious, what is the highest price paid for a single cue and who was the cue made by?

I do understand that some transactions are not publicly known, so my question may not be able to be answered.

Thanks in advance for your responces!!!!!

Have a great night!!!!!!

Manwon

Hi Manwon,
I'm certain the most expensive cue ever bought was the LAST WORK of GUS SZAMBOTI... This is the fancy 8pt cue Gus never finished.. This cue is the Holy Grail of cues and is pictured in the Billiards Encyclopedia....
I'm pretty sure about this because I sold the cue for the Szamboti Family...
This was a private transaction and all detail are confidential..
Best,
Ken Kerner
