What Is The Highest Known Price Paid For A Cue And Who Was The Cue Maker?

Highest Price Cues

I don't know what the highest price paid for a cue is, but like many dealers here on AZ, I have had my share if high priced sales. Many here have said recently that "High End Cue Sales are Dead" , to the contrary, I have sold recently a cue for $18,000. and a cue named "BalaBoti" (Balabushka finished with inlays from Gus Szamboti for $34,000. I bet there are many more stories of actual varifiable sales in this range by other AZer's. JP WWW.CUESNTHINGS.COM

Hi Manwon,
I'm certain the most expensive cue ever bought was the LAST WORK of GUS SZAMBOTI... This is the fancy 8pt cue Gus never finished.. This cue is the Holy Grail of cues and is pictured in the Billiards Encyclopedia....
I'm pretty sure about this because I sold the cue for the Szamboti Family...
This was a private transaction and all detail are confidential..

now i'm really upset, remember back in 94 there was a guy in Orange county Ca Rick(something) he had a billiards store home tables etc and ALOT of high end cues,

Anyways he had one of the 5 of the last cues Gus was working oon the butt it had a GS? or number or something Barry actually did the finish work because the cue was in production when we lost Gus, my cheap ass did'nt buy it for $8500, i was making 4-5K/week. I had so many chances to buy one of gus's cues and never came off the $$$, i'm not like that anymore. Hell if that Mosconi deal is real i'm game and yes it would offer it to the musuem in DC to display with one other thing my dad gave me.

What about the Lambros "Dragon" cue? I believe that was sold for quarter-mil. The entire cue was solid ivory with inlaid rubies, mother-of-pearl (or abolone, I forget). That cue was featured in a magazine, so it's public knowledge.
From what I have heard, the sale price for that cue was more in the $100K range. However, last week, I was told that the buyer placed an order for a duplicate cue and the price is yet to be determined.

I wonder why a collector would want a duplicate cue of a cue he owned. Especially one like that...

Hell, if your game, the mosconi cues ARE real. Our very own Ken (high End Cues) is brokering those cues as well.

I would have bough them, but with that kinda money, i'd have to tell my wife.

I have several expensive cues. I have one ofthe most expensive, if not the most expensive Hercek ever made. Ivory handle, intricate inlays etc. It also came with the artist renderings on tracing paper of all the little figures (very rare). Those alone are probably worth a couple a grand.

I also own Balabuskas PERSONAL playing cue. It was the last cue owned by his son, and I bought it from him directly. The letter offering it's aunthenticity is beyond reproach, with some interesting history behind that cue.

I have no idea why he wants a duplicate, but I got that information from a very reliable source.

Yup. The Taj Mahal cue made by Bob Meucci was a pretty pricey cue. I think I heard $100K, but I might be wrong.

There are several cuemaker who have reportedly had a cue sell for over six figures including Thomas Wayne, Ginacue, and Mike Lambros.

Fred

I know this thread is older than dino doo doo but the Taj Mahal by Bob Meucci sold at a final last know price of $299K!!!! Watch the very first video on this link ;) http://www.meuccicues.com/video.html

Richard Black did one for a Saudi Prince that had a bunch of diamonds in it, not sure what it went for.---Smitty
