Thanks to everyone who posted, I agree with most everyones comments and views on the ignore feature. This thread was designed to make light of those people who's obsessive behavior would make others want to ignore them. I knew that some of these people would post, because they always have to be involved in any thread where they think they are being mentioned do to their insecure nature. The thread was not designed for personal attacks or a discussion in to anyones comments, but some people do not get it so on they go, to everyone else thanks again for your thoughts and have a wonderful day!!!!!!!

Roger Long, I completely agree with your post, some people should just keep the pie hole closed because they only prove how foolish they are with every post.

Oh and by the way, I hope those who feel threatened understand that they are being ignored!!!!!!!:D

Take Care All.

Now if you're one of those who just can't deal with someone disagreeing with your opinions, then you should either stay out of the discussions, or else employ your "manual" (inner self) ignore feature.

Roger

"But-but-but Roger, you replied to my post, tell me I hit the nail on the head, but then accused me of not being able to deal with someone disagreeing with my opinions, telling me that I should either stay out of the discussion or else employ my 'manual' (inner self) ignore feature? Boy, how crass and accusatory! My sensibilities are deeply offended!"

:D :p

(Sorry, with the way it was worded -- in second person [i.e. "you," "your"] -- I just "couldn't" resist!)

I only have one person on ignore here. And it's for my own silly reasons. His/her picture isn't a favorite of mine, and I don't want to turn off all avatars just to spare myself from seeing that one.

I have been wondering why people really use the ignore feature. Most members who claim to use the ignore feature do so out of what appears to be petty differences with other members. However, when that member makes a comment that they don't agree with or that they feel is possibly directed at them they drop the ignore feature and post a comment to the member they claim they wish to ignore!!!:thumbup:

Now this behavior seems kinda creepy to me and it is difficult for me to understand this behavior, because I thought the purpose of the ignore feature was to ignore that member. Now I suspect that it may be a total lack of confidence, a crazy desire to prove they are right, or a more childish desire to not let that ignored person get one up on them. Either way it is very very entertaining and I hope the individuals in question never stop their obsessive behavior because no matter what has gone wrong on that day they are always good for laugh even if they don't understand that they are funny!!!!:D

Thanks for listening and please vote on the pool.:)

I just started using the "ignore feature" recently. I've encountered a few individuals who post anonomously that just try to stir up shit. They make absurd statements and attack people who disagree with them. I don't mind a good natured debate and can agree to disagree with level headed people, but the ones who are abusive and do not contribute anything except insults and jabs aren't worth getting upset about. Now I put them on ignore and don't have to read what they spew.

Oh, I wasn't talking about you, Sean. I was talking about all those other people; you know, those that you were talking about in your post. :o

(Well, did I escape that one; or did I just get myself into more trouble? :sorry:)

Roger

I have a few people on the ignore list, I found that these people put me on tilt. not many people in the world do this, Im generally pretty passive. Getting on my nerves, or causing me to genuinely not like you takes a special breed of a$$ clown. I prefer they just go away. On the interwebz, very much like a stubborn butt itch... they don't. "ignore feature" is like my e-a$$hole cream.

Respecting a different opinion is irrelevant. I ignore people because they've either proven themselves incapable of rational conversation, they're far too politically correct, or they spam like cocobolocowboy. Oh, I also ignored someone a long time ago because I was tired of them posting 3-4 times in a row in topics they deemed popular enough for their presence. I also couldn't stand their crying, saying they're leaving the forums forever, and then coming back the next day or week. That pretty much covers who I ignore.
I caught a glimpse of your avatar and couldn't tear my gaze away from your piercing stare. Subsequently, not blinking for 30 minutes and not moving I developed blindness in my right eye and a sudden case of narcolepsy. Your powerful presence has left me a disabled forum survivor. if you could put a warning label before each of your posts scrolls up the screen I would appreciate it! because I am left eye dominant I wont press charges. but you have been warned!

at the risk of pissing off anyone, I think if you have you use a "computer function" like ignore your a sissy and weak. Ostriches stick theoir heads in the sand not Fatboy, if someones gonna talk shit I want to hear it,:D

I agree with you, but to each their own, the ones that kill me are the people who just can't stay out of a thread because they think some is talking about them. They are also the ones who think that anyone who disagrees with their view point is attacking them or just some one trolling the forum with no purpose. But the funny thing is that these people can not understand how obvious their actions are and at least in my little world I would never ignore them because they always give me laugh when I really need it.

I half way agree with you, but I also understand the positive of ignore feature. Like I said I don't have anyone at the moment on ignore, but some times I choose to to read some people comment because I have that function in my brain.

Me too Cowboy, unless the signals are interrupted by dumb people who make me laugh!!!!!!:D

I've only ever put one person on ignore but it wasn't anything that he had done to me. He was just in general a total ass clown, trouble maker and *EVERYONE* here hated his posts. A lot of his sh!t was just pot stirring ignorant stuff that didn't really mean anything. Now, if you pressed me for his name I couldn't help you. I honestly don't remember who it was. I also don't have anyone on ignore at this time so obviously his account has been removed.

Personally, I don't let stuff on this screen get under my skin. I tend to get along with most people here and the ones that dislike me, oh well, can't be loved by all. No sweat really.

Then there are those that take hits regardless. Coco Cowboy and JB come to mind. Both of those guys take a lot of crap and in all honesty, I have no idea why. Coco is a really nice guy. He's always been really nice to me I should say. I don't know why people get so agitated by his posts. And JB, well, he's JB. Very strong opinions and not afraid to speak his mind. I don't have a problem with that at all.

Nope, I see no reason to put anyone on ignore.

my sentiments exactly!

Nothing brightens my morning more than kicking back in front of the computer while drinking my first cup of Community Coffee New Orleans Blend and reading totally ridiculous posts by someone I dislike where they are making a total fool or an ass out of themselves. Knowing that 99% of the people reading will see the same thing I do while the poster is too blind to see it just makes it all the better!

Some people brighten our day in one way, some in others. I liked a sign so much I saw at somebody's place of business so much that I had one made for myself. "Everyone that passes through these doors brightens my day. Some by coming, some by leaving!" I had to take down my favorite signs. Think I'll start a thread about signs, they certainly would fit my budding cue enterprise!

I need to change my avatar again??

Oh, can someone quote this for him so he can see it? lol

I totally agree with you Hu, or is it Stalker, Troll or any other number of names some of those people use:D. You know Hu, it certainly does brighten one's day and while I don't drink coffee anymore a good cold glass of water works just fine buddy!!!!

Take Care and let them eat cake!!!:D

That's one way to look at it. The other way to look at it is like wearing headphones to drown out irritating noise. Responding to people talking shit is one thing but after a while you realize that all they have is shit and you're covered in it by feeding them.

Sometimes it's better to just erase a person from your life. Kind of like that tree in a forest makes no sound concept. In other words if you are talking crap about me in the pool room in Vegas and I never hear it then for me it doesn't exist. If it gets back to me then I can deal with it but if not then it doesn't matter.

On here it's way to easy for people to push buttons and steal time getting others riled up.

The general rule on the net is don't feed the trolls and they will go away.

It really works. Hard to do sometimes because it seems like you just have to respond and set the record straight. But it's impossible to continually defend against people who will lie and say anything just to get a reaction.

So it's not the perfect solution but in the absence of a referee willing to do their job having a way to moderate the forum on your own isn't a bad thing.
