What is this on my cue?

From time to time, I get these stringy things coming out of the end of the cue butt, close to the joint. See pictures.

I usually just wipe them out and it is fine. But they show up after playing for a bit.

I only get this on my home table though (I think). Could it be the cue rubbing/scrubbing against the rubber pocket liners? And what I see is the rubber?

I recently had that specific part of the cue refinished. Could it be that?

How old is it? Looks like it's reached cueberty. Has it been more emotional lately, any sudden growth spurts? Have you noticed any funky smells coming from its bedroom?

It reminds me of leather glue but as you mentioned your table doesn't have leather drop pockets .
Strange stuff is it just from one of the pockets or all of them ?

Spray the pocket liners with Armorall. May solve the mystery.
