What is YOUR favorite training aid?

For me , it is a tossup between the Practice Pro pocket reducers and the Break Rak. Both are excellent.

Using the pocket reducers, I learned a LOT about my stance and alignment, and how to get it right on a consistent basis. This goes a long way toward making me a consistent ball pocketer. Also, it teaches one to play position with proper and accurate cueing rather than by cheating the pocket. While cheating the pocket has its place, it is certainly helpful to understand how to play position without doing it.

The Break Rak is simply awesome for learning both cueball control on the break, and also a certain "stroke" that really pops the balls and produces great action out of the rack. If you watched Shane vs Mike, you may have noticed that they were breaking about the same speed, but Shane's break produced a LOT more action out of the balls. Working with the Break Rak has helped enormously in that department!

+1 for the breakrak. Other than that, there's not much else I use for training besides the pool table, pool balls, and my cues.

I have a Break Rak in Pool School and it works....perfect.
Years ago I tried the coke bottle and it promoted an elbow drop, I didn't like that.....SPF=randyg

The greatest training aide for me was a video camera and Cracker telling me to quit flingin the cue stick like Busti...

I have a measle cue ball and use it primarily as a training aid for spin, etc.

But I am intrigued by the coke bottle drill mentioned in this thread as a means of developing a consistent, steady stroke. I think I'm going to try it.

My favorite is the 3rd eye Trainer by Joe Tucker, fits on your cue and MAKES you hit center ball. Very useful for shots where you can't really sight down your cue which makes it very difficult to find center ball i.e. jump/jacked up shots, this tool forces you to improve your tip placement and alignment at the same time.

My favorite training aids would be:

Pay attention to the basics, holding the cue, stance, your stroke start to finish and practice, practice, practice. If you think you would benefit from tuition go and get some and to those who don't think they do, good luck with that!

I'd have to list my favs as the following:

1) Pocket Reducers. they just force you to concentrate.
2) Stroke Groover. i just got it, but i think it really teaches the stroke.

others that quickly come to mind, in no particular order:
1) video
2) Rempe's training ball
3) coke bottle. maybe i should use this with the Stroke Groover?
4) napkin/paper target, etc.

let me also put in a plug for these two as aids:
1) Kinister's 1994 60 minute workout tape for 8/9 Ball
2) Tom Rossman. nuff said here. i'd have him down every year if he'd come. learned more from him than i have from anybody.

I have a number of training aids and I was wondering what is your favorite piece of HARDWARE?
1.) self-adhesive hole reinforcements (AKA "white donuts")
2.) Aramith measles CB
3.) digital video camera
4.) MOFUDAT (this isn't hardware, but it uses "2")
5.) VEPS (this isn't hardward, but it uses "1" through "4")

Thanks for the good thread,
Dave

I had forgot about this one.

This gets one vote, this gets the other vote.

Man I had completly forgot about this one, The AcCueShot Aim Trainer. I bought this about 3 or 4 years ago. It only gets a workout when I play with a new cue just to see how much I have to compensate for deflection but it is a great tool.
Thanks for the reminder. ;)
