What kind of pool matches do people play where they get trophies?

True story, about 20 years ago a place in Benedict Maryland that had a pool tourney with a 20 dollar buy in.

First - Third got a cheap plastic trophy. The money was kept by the management. It was the last tournament they had.

:p

My new pool goal is, I want to win a trophy of some kind. I keep seeing them in people's home rooms in the post here. What type of competitions do you have to play in where they give trophies to people?

I threw out 20+. Had I'd of known I would have sent them to you. Bowling, racket ball, table tennis, biking, and pool.

At first I thought it was a joke because you saw the Jimmy Mataya video LOL, but if you are serious, there is no single type of tournament that will give you a trophy, I have played in leagues, normal tournaments, charity tournaments, have gotten trophies from some and not from others. Just look and see what comes up in your area. Many of the charity tournaments I played in have not had a cash prize but have handed out trophies for the winners or top two places, which I like rather than pay out cash for a fundraiser. Money should go to the fundraiser, if there are prizes they should be donated goods like a cue or a trophy.

Years ago I rented an old house and all the sash cords were broken.
Trophies worked great for propping open the windows.

Later they got used by my daughter for awards for the Barbie beauty pageants. The winners always seemed happy to get a trophy that was taller than they were.

They have multiple uses.

I believe the 21 Poolroom's monthly King of the Hill tournament provides a 1st place trophy now. I prefer cash. Over the last couple of years I've won 2 or 3 first places and a few showings, but no trophies. So far this year I haven't taken top prize yet.

Most of my trophies and plaques are from BCA tournaments and Moose Lodge tournaments, back when I was playing those events often. Join the Moose Lodge and play on a winning team -- they always have trophies. I won a Moose 9ball tournament a few years ago. There were over 80 players, and with a $10 entry fee the pot was over $800. I got $200 and a little trophy! Lol. You win more that getting 3rd or 4th in 21's monthly King of the Hill with 40 to 60 players. 1st usually pays out a grand or more.

I'm probably not going to have a chance at winning anything at 21 until I get a home table and get adequate time on running drills. The weekly tournament I've been playing in is starting to be easy money though, Id consider it extra income if it didn't just end up paying my bar tab. Haha It's coming along though.

I actually was a member at the Charleston lodge but I never renewed when I moved back to Elkview from Charleston. Holler at me the next time you plan on hitting up 21 and I'll buy a few rounds, seems like everytime I watch you play my game increases. Haha

They only count if I earn them, appreciate it though brother. Lol All mine are sports related but those days are gone, pool however, I can still play.

I have to ask... Wouldn't they have ran out of them regardless of who won each week?

Good catch. I was multi-tasking when I was making my post. You can delete that sentence altogether. I didn't proofread before I saved the post.
