What kind of spot in nine ball would the top gambling pros give me?

I runout about 1 out of 20 racks.

give them the breaks

Give them the breaks and they should give you everything but the white ball.

Reason I ask is I'm thinking about going to Reno for the next IPT event and wouldn't mind mixing it up with a top pro, just for kicks.

Don't mean to be sarcastic but you would need 11 on the wire for a race to 10. And that's only if you got the break too. You cannot comprehend how good the top pros are. They make it look so easy when their shooting. If you want some action to try yourself out find the snake pit and pick a game. Oh! There isn't going to be any action there," just for kicks," so bring
a bankroll.

A couple of years ago a road player from San Jose came to Modesto which has a lot of really good players. Some of the players here cash in the Reno tournament every year. They are not pros. Neither was this guy. But he gave everyone and anyone the last 5 and the breaks and no one, I mean no one could beat him...
So what are your chances with the pros???

last 5

last 5 and the BREAKS... please... they couldnt break and run 4 balls? don't sound like any players from where i come from. I want to see efren (pro and possibly best player ever) give hennessee (good player that cashes in a lot of events) that spot. I bet on hennessee every day of the week and twice on sunday. No way anyone gave that spot to a good player

Well. You know where Modesto is?? Tell him to come here. We have a lot of players that will give action in the thousands of dollars. Lots and lots of action here. He can go home a rich man...If he is really that good.....You can come and be his backer or get a lot of rail action...This is not a joke but an invite....

Interesting. I don't think there's an answer to the question. I don't doubt the skill of the best players, but in your scenario, with the lesser player getting the break every time, at some point he's going to make a ball - any ball - and have an early chance to sink the 9. Or he's going to get make a bunch of balls on the break and get an easy spread.

It's an interesting question. We know how good the top players are. But can we rank the guy getting the spot? The guy who asked this question said he runs out 1 in 20 games. I think that's enough. Anyway, it doesn't matter what we think the top players should give. I doubt we'll see any top player give such an extreme spot to anyone other than a person who just learned how to hold a stick. ....... But of course I could be wrong. As always I could be wrong.

Hennessee with last 5 and the breaks?

If someone there is going to give hennessee the last 5 and the breaks not only would i come there with him.. I bet i will get about 50 pm's from people on this board wanting to ride with me... someone back me up on this... that spot is sick

I didn't say he would get the spot. I said there are players here who will play him for lots and lots of money. The players you said could not run 4 balls...I don't know how he and the players here would match up when they talk, but you say you bet on him every day and I said there is a lot of action here...
The road player was getting the breaks, not giving the breaks. Sorry for the confusion...He was giving the last 5. Would your man take that bet??? Just curious....

I'm not trying to be a wiseguy. Just letting you know there is always a lot of action in Modesto..Big bucks. Really big bucks. Sometimes $10,000 lost in one night. Or like one player here, he has lost over $150,000 in the last year. Just putting this out for anyone who likes to play and travel...There is always action in Modesto....

A spot in the looney bin for even thinking about matching up.
You have no clue...

Keep practicing and perhaps one day you will be ready, but not yet.

I know how I said it and I said I said it wrong. Sorry. What do you want me to do??? I was tying fast and said it all in one line and know he was getting the breaks but rattled on he gave the last 5 and the breaks. I said I was sorry. So whats your point..
I just thought if a road plyer can play that good than what can a pro do to a guy who can only run 1 rack in 20???
I see why you said what you said because of what i said. Know what I mean???
Hope you understand. It was just a misunderstanding...

The key is knowing what YOU can do. On your own. Against the ghost. Once you know what you need against the ghost, you can start to think of what spot you'll need against a top pro.

Every once in a while someone will come through the door and walk straight up to me and ask to play some 9 ball. I tell these guys I don't gamble, which is the truth. Not that I won't play for something, but I don't gamble.

Rethinking my answer to these guys, I have a new answer, and here it is: "You wanna play some 9 ball, sure, but I don't gamble." They come back with something about being unemployed, just want to have some fun and so on. My new response to their hustle is this: "Sure, but I don't play real good. So I'm gonna need some major weight from you." They'll ask how much. My answer: "Oh, I want the breaks, the 3 out, and ball in hand after the break, even if I don't make a ball, except if I scratch on the break." With that spot, I figger I can probably take the top pros. Plus, it needs to be a race to 11.

Can I still lose? Sure can, but doubt it.

Still wanna play?

CJ Wiley gave several A masters and some very good road players the last five and the breaks and they couldnt beat him. Most of these guys can beat the ghost and run out about 80 percent of the time. I think it is mental. I was also told by a road player here in Dallas who shoots lights out and is consider by many to be one of the best players in Texas, that Jack Hines gave him the 7-8 and the breaks and robbed him.

Either they had sissy breaks, the table was breaking dry no matter what, or they didn't check the rack. No pro can give a shortstop/strong road players the last 5 and the breaks and win. I think you overestimated the guys that played CJ.
