What kind of spot would you need to play a pro for money?

I sometimes wonder how much of a spot I'd need to get to be willing to play a pro for money.

Note: this thread is purely fictional because it's widely known in my town (and by some on this very forum) that I am a complete nit.

...for now.

If you had to challenge a pro to play for money who would it be, what would kind of spot would you ask for and what game would you pick?

Here are mine but I know none of them would probably play for so little. What can I say? I'm cheap when it comes to gambling.

CJ Wiley
9 Ball
Race to 5
I get the 6 and out, all breaks and you have to bank the 9 off of at least 2 rails while singing "Deep in the Heart of Texas"
$20

Shane Van Boening
9 Ball
Race to 5
I get the 6 and out, all the breaks, you can't hit a single rail with a ball during the game and no pink shirt
$25

Andrew Cleary
8 Ball
Race to 5
I get all the breaks, I get to pick your suit whether I get a ball or not on the break, you have to hit a rail before pocketing the 8, you have to play with a house cue that I pick out and you have to play with a ping pong ball pinned between your chin and chest the whole time
$30

I'm guessing no one else on this forum needs as much weight as I do.

I wouldn't need much to play, but something ridiculous if I wanted to actually win. I'd need something like the breaks, BIH after break (even if I don't make anything), the last 3 or 4, and games on the wire. LOL

I'd play Earl.

Barbox 9 ball.
I get the 2 out and all the breaks.
No arm weights, ear muffs, finger extensions, or shooting glasses.
He can keep the bee keeper outfit though.

OK, I laughed out loud at that one.

On the barbox.....6 and out with the break and they can line up.
I would want Earl first, I would have him looking like  very quickly!

Many levels of pro, so I'll consider this question relative to the top pros (Ko, Shane, Dennis, Darren, Francisco, etc.) in the game.

Can't imagine why anyone below B level would even try this, so I'm omitting them.

The top guys can give a typical A player 6 games on the wire going to 13. .

A regional hustler, typically referred to as a shortstop in these AZB parts, might need just 5 on the wire going to 13.

A marginal pro (eg, Adam Smith) might need just 4 games on the wire going to 13.

Only a well established pro can play these guys with three on the wire or less going to 13.

.... as I see it.

ya gotta be smart

I'd play Shane for twenty giving him the orange crush! He is going to win anyway so what sounds better, "I lost getting the five out and the breaks" or "Well Shane did win but I was giving him the five out and the breaks."

Being a dirty ol'man I'd pick one of the nice looking lady pro's to play and she would have to wear a skirt that was shorter than the heels on her shoes. Play a long set of anything for twenty, it would be money well spent!

Ok, I'm hoping your $20, $25, and $30 are followed by a "K"! Because for $20 bucks a set, if I were CO, I would quickly forget how to speak English! For $25 bucks, if I are Shane, I would walk far away from you(pretend I didn't hear you);) and as far as Cleary, he's a world champion so,,,,,for $30 bucks, I would tell you to stick the ping pong ball up your anus and we can play;)

If you're gonna play pros, AND ask them for weight,,,,, you play for something decent! I could see this discussion with all these players if you said $500 American dollars,,,,, but for $20 bucks Lmao!!!

So far the most I have ever played for was a drink and I didn't even know I was playing for that (someone else setup the bet) so that sounds like a lot to me for some reason. However, I agree with you. You'd probably have to offer up a lot of cash to any of those guys to get them to play at all under any terms.

It's just a "what if" thread so I was extending the rules of fiction a bit.

In the 90's, I sat around the all nite pool room trying to come up with a game I could
play 'anyone' with. Here it is:
I make the 9 ball last. I make the 1-8 in any order. Winner breaks.
My high run was 11 racks, but I averaged 5-7 racks run.
ps
Still trying to get that game...lol

On a barbox I'd take the wild 5 and the break from anyone for some cheap $100 sets

I would play Efren a race to 4 for $500.00 one pocket 10-7 with me getting
all the breaks and moving any ball I want behind the head spot after the break.

I'm going to get my a$$ kicked, but I will make at least 4 shots ;)
