what "PRO" has the best (most consistent) power-break ?

Svb

Personally, I find Jeff De Luna is one of my most favorite breakers to "watch"...can't emulate that style...I'd end up needing new felt...a new break cue...and a hip replacement!!!

From the standpoint of a break shot that I would like to emulate, it would be SVB's hands down...he seems to get the most power from the least amount of "effort"...not the least amount of practice mind you...but effort. He seems to lose the least amount of energy throughout the break-stroke...

Hi Jason,
Good to see you here.
Agreed, That minimal effort he has is from the "stored" energy in that long cue. Combined with proper timing, he gets the maximum amount of energy from his combined swing & cue weight.
Think of it like a flywheel in a car,..... once you get it spinning......
SVB utilizes it well which is why it looks "effortless"

Ya not so bad with that MEZZ when we play either!

I dont believe that a hard break equates to a successful break.
Svb doesnt hit them hard like nevel or busty in terms of mph but his is most likey the lost efficient.
You could literally name 50 pros that hit them hard and square. Raj Hundal hits them good, Oscar D ,Brandon Shuff. etc

About time someone said Shuff, his break is much improved, he hits em square and plently hard, James i seen your break and its pretty dam good also!

I have to say the 3 best power breakers with control for me are (in no particular order):

1. Jeff De Luna
2. Roberto Gomez
3. Wu Chia Ching

ALL Opinions are welcome !

John Kucharo had the best break I'd ever seen.Tony Ellin was right there with him. These guys played in the 90's.Kucharo controlled the rock from the side rail quite well and broke harder from the center than anyone I have ever seen. Here is a quick link to 1 of his breaks.

Quite simply, the intent of this thread was to profile different PRO's and their styles of breaking. Also, which PRO has their{power} break consistently working for them.
(That is why I said in my original post that I know this is highly subjective).
I do not want to go into minute semantics of power-breaking and analysis,..... And I thank you all for not going there!

You're referring to the PBII...I've had to learn how best to get the most from a short stick all my life! I figured I'd make it work in pool as well!!!

There's a thread on here (I'll have to hunt for it) that shows how to check your break speed using a laptop with a microphone (or a new phone with a break-speed app)...one of these days we'll have to check it out.
